The Department of Biology at California State University San Bernardino invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Biology with research expertise in organismal plant biology with an emphasis on structure and function to begin August 2024. The successful candidate will be expected to apply for extramural funding, conduct and publish research in organismal plant biology with an emphasis on structure and function, applying laboratory and/ or field research involving undergraduate and Master’s students. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to service and shared governance to the department, college, and university. Moreover, the successful candidate will preferably take over the role of the CSUSB herbarium curator. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in biology or related field; postdoctoral experience is highly desired.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Biology has 17 tenure-track/tenured faculty with a variety of research interests, as well as lecturers and technicians who provide pivotal support. The department offers undergraduate and graduate programs. The department has facilities for 3D printing, cell culture and stem cell research, animal care, and plant growth. The CSUSB herbarium hosts a small collection (about 4,000 specimens) of mostly local flora. In addition, the department has access to the College of Natural Science’s Electron Microscope and Image Analysis Center (EMIAC). Vice President for Research

Direct reports to the Vice President for Research currently include assistant/associate vice presidents, directors, staff members within the Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR).
