Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NM Tech) performs nuclear medicine, PET, and theranostic procedures. They work under a Radiologist's supervision. These procedures are for ambulatory and hospital patients. A physician or licensed provider requests them for diagnosing disease and injury. They follow established protocols.
\n
Essential Functions of the Role
\n
<ul>\n
<li>Quality Assurance: Performs high-quality nuclear medicine, PET, and theranostic procedures according to exam protocol. Evaluates the quality of imaging procedures and follows established standards. Maintains equipment by performing quality control as required by imaging manufacturers, RAM, or ACR. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure optimal equipment capabilities.</li>
\n
<li>Caring Practices: Communicates with patients to identify service needs, ensure the correct exam is performed, and establish rapport with patients and others. Instructs and communicates with patients and their family, following HIPAA, about the test and assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam.</li>
\n
<li>Patient Safety: Explains the procedure thoroughly to put patients at ease. Protects patients and team members by following safety requirements, infection-control, protocols, and techniques. Prepares patient and area for procedure by positioning patient, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment into position. Uses proper aseptic or sterile techniques when setting up and performing invasive procedures. Maintains hand hygiene requirements.</li>

<li>Radiation Safety: Safeguards patients, team members, and themselves by following all radiation safety rules, policies, and techniques. Verifies the correct radioactive drug for the exam or treatment. Screens patients for pregnancy status before the exam or treatment. Safely administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications per protocol. Educates patients on radiation safety techniques before and after the exam or treatment. Safely follows radiation disposal guidelines.</li>

<li>Collaboration: Reports issues to leadership or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory and ordering radiopharmaceuticals for patient care and Q.C. Works with colleagues, nursing partners, medical staff, and Radiologists. Ensures accurate transfer of patient images to the BSWH PACS for clinical review and dictation by physician partners.</li>

Kind Clinic proudly serves Texas with four vibrant locations: two in Austin, one in San Antonio, and another in Dallas plus virtual care services available to all residents across Texas. This position is primarily REMOTE-Candidates must be based in the Greater Austin, San Antonio or Dallas metro areas as some on site work and meetings will be required. There is a very strong preference for candidates who are bilingual in Spanish. Candidates who identify as bilingual must be able to read, write and speak the language fluently. 
We are currently seeking a Patient Support Center Nurse (RN) (Bilingual English/Spanish Prefered) . This role will report to the Patient Access Center Director and Patient Access Center Nurse Manager.
What you would do: 
<ul>
<li>Core Functions: </li>
<ul>
<li>Talk directly to patients on the telephone or patient portal messaging system and then direct them to home care advice, emergency rooms (ERs), or schedule patients to the clinic during office hours. </li>
<li>Meet and exceed Call center Metrics and KPIs. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>For clinical concerns, determine urgency of seeing the patient based on brief assessment and on familiarity with a patient’s condition and history. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Send patients with high-risk chief complaints such as chest pain, abdominal pain, or severe headaches to ER immediately or arrange for ambulance. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Ensure accurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recorded in the patients’ medical record. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Arrange clinic appointments for patients who do not need to go to ER but need to see a clinician. Consults with clinicians as needed. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Follow organization’s clinical SDOs, policies and procedures when interpreting lab results, sending medication refills or scheduling treatment. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Follow Texas DSHS notifiable condition reporting requirements. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Act, when designated, in an “Ask a Nurse” capacity, handling routine information requests from patients, e.g., “Do I need a flu shot every year? When are you giving these shots?” </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Prioritize work tasks and services and completes tasks in a timely manner. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Maintain accurate, clear, and concise progress notes, problem lists, and medication lists. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Provide patient education regarding disease processes, therapies, and healthful behaviors. </li>
</ul>

<li>Communicate appropriately and tactfully with staff, consultants, patients, partners, and community. </li>
</ul>

Compensation
Based on job duties and requirements, this position is placed in salary band 45 with an hourly rate of $32.00-$35.00 per hour non-exempt. Initial placement within this range will be based on hired candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
