This role focuses on upfitting new vehicles into innovative, fully equipped solutions for a wide range of markets. You will perform high-quality mechanical and light electrical installations on trucks and vans, ensuring every build meets strict quality standards and supports ongoing business growth. Responsibilities
- Assemble and upfit truck bodies and new vehicles into complete solutions according to specifications and quality standards.
- Route and install wire harnesses, partitions, auxiliary batteries, light bars, push bumpers, power supplies, ladder racks, shelving, wall liners, and floors.
- Disassemble factory vehicles as needed and reassemble them with aftermarket and upfit components installed correctly and securely.
- Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to perform mechanical assembly and basic electrical work.
- Read and follow work orders, layout drawings, and, when applicable, electrical schematics to complete installations accurately.
- Uphold the quality levels required by the company and customers, ensuring all work meets or exceeds established standards.
- Record and maintain accurate project information, including time spent on each job and relevant project details.
- Capture pictures and project-specific information to support the creation and improvement of standard work procedures.
- Identify and suggest efficiencies in the installation process while maintaining high quality and safety.
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in processes, tools, and methods to enhance productivity and workmanship.
- Work in a physically active role that involves frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling.
- Lift and handle components and materials weighing up to 50 pounds safely and in accordance with shop practices.
- Support a busy shop environment by collaborating with team members and assisting on various projects as needed.
- Work overtime when required to meet customer deadlines and production schedules.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of Automotive Technician experience.
- Experience working with automotive mechanical systems.
- Autobody experience in a shop or similar environment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly using hand tools and power tools.
- Ability to perform basic electrical work related to vehicle upfitting, including wiring and routing harnesses.
- Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and handle physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to work with frequent standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling throughout the shift.
- Willingness and ability to work some overtime when required.
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow instructions, work orders, and shop processes in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong teamwork mindset with a focus on customer satisfaction and reliable service.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with automotive electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics with limited assistance.
- Ability to read layout drawings and work orders with limited help.
- At least 1 year of aftermarket add-on or vehicle upfitting experience.
- Familiarity with wiring, schematics, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
- Comfort using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
- Interest in continuous improvement and contributing ideas to enhance processes.
- Motivated, ambitious, and detail-oriented approach to daily work.

Work Environment
The role is based in a modern automotive-focused facility that is new, clean, and well organized. The environment is similar to a professional service center where vehicles receive maintenance, but without floor cutouts, featuring long driveways or alleys with vans parked back-to-back and rear doors open for installations. Work takes place in a busy shop setting, using a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment to perform mechanical and light electrical installations. The position involves frequent physical activity, including standing, bending, twisting, stooping, and kneeling, as well as lifting components up to 50 pounds. The atmosphere is casual but supportive, encouraging teamwork, communication, and continuous improvement while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rosemount, MN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $27.00/hr.
