JOB SUMMARY
The RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST performs diagnostic radiographic services by taking radiographs, images made by passing x-rays through an area of the body. Services may include positioning, photographing, and developing film. The Radiologic Technologist works under the direction of the radiologist or physician.

EDUCATION
Graduate of Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) Accredited Radiology Program or equivalent. Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists or equivalent.
LICENSURE
State specific; current and unrestricted licensure, if applicable; certification by AART.
EXPERIENCE
TWO YEARS year radiology technologist experience in the clinical setting.
CREDENTIALS:
CPR as required by client facility; health and screening tests as required by specific facilities and/or regulatory agencies.
ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Various client facility settings; possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other potentially infectious materials.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Complies with accepted ethical and professional standards of conduct.</li>
<li>Administers or assists with administration of contrast media, as required, and consistent with applicable legal restrictions.</li>
<li>Performs radiological testing as assigned and under applicable scope of practice regulations.</li>
<li>Initiates emergency procedures according to facility policies and procedures.</li>
<li>Provides patient services in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.</li>

What will you do as a PMC Histology Technician
As a PMC Medical Histology Technician, you will serve as an essential part of the patient’s experience by performing various routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate fashion. Performing all aspects of the daily operation of the histology laboratory including processing, embedding, slide preparation, staining, antibody titer preparation, equipment maintenance, supply and reagent inventory maintenance, and record retention.
A day in the life of a PMC Histology Technician may include:

<li>Accurately confirm positive identification of all specimens and associated paperwork received at the Histology Lab</li>
<li>Ensures all correct clinical data/information is entered into the computer system (i.e. order entry, patient demographics, and/or results.)</li>
<li>Perform of all aspects of the histology staining from login in the specimen appropriately to the preparation of the properly labeled completed stain</li>
<li>Preparation of materials for staining, including cutting paraffin sections.</li>
<li>Properly embed processed tissue.</li>
<li>Cut and stain re-cut slides, special stains, and immunohistochemical stains.</li>
<li>Maintenance of appropriate reagent and supply inventory needed for the staining procedures.</li>
<li>Being a key piece in the PMC mission by providing the highest quality of care to our patients and the communities we serve.</li>
</ul>
 
Required Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Associate or Baccalaureate degree in biology or a related field required. Certified HT or HLT by ASCP required.</li>
</ul>
