Job Summary and Qualifications
The Operating Room Technician demonstrates knowledge of surgical instruments and principals of sterile technique. The Operating Room Technician anticipates the needs of the surgical suite within the scope of the position’s competencies with the use of critical thinking. The Operating Room Technician adheres to hospital policies and procedure, is supervised by the Registered Nurse, and collaborates with the surgical team to improve customer satisfaction. The Operating Room Technician is a supportive role and will be implemented, as the needs of the department require. 
Major Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Assembles supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Prepares sterile instrument table as well as gathering equipment after procedure for cleaning and sterilization.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Accurately completes all sponge, sharp, and instrument counts and reports all discrepancies to the nurse or surgeon.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Positions patient accordingly to type of surgery.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Prepares patient skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Provides comfort and support pre-operative patients.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Transports patients to and from surgical suite.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Assists the surgical team in surgical procedures which may include passing instruments, sponges, and sutures.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Cleans and prepares room between procedures and after last case; restocks supplies when necessary and organizes effectively for end of case clean up.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Maintains a safe work area.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Performs other duties as assigned.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”&nbsp;</li>
</ul>
Specialty-Specific Responsibilities:&nbsp; 
<ul>
<li>Maintains aseptic techniques and actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Properly handles specimens: Identifies specimen appropriately with the physician – maintains specimens during the procedure and checks with surgeon prior to passing off field.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Obtains specific supplies, non-narcotic medications and equipment: Checks preference cards prior to case and makes arrangements to obtain special supplies.</li>
</ul>
What qualifications you will need: 
<ul>
<li>Minimum high school diploma or equivalent&nbsp;</li>
<li>Operating Room Scrub Technician Certification (CST)Preferred&nbsp; </li>
<li>Completion of an Accredited Surgical Scrub Technician Program or experience working as a scrub tech&nbsp;</li>
<li>Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date&nbsp;</li>
<li>Minimum of one year of surgery experience preferred&nbsp;</li>
<li>Skilled in all surgical service lines: General, Robotics, Ortho, Neuro, Vascular, Urology, Gynecology, and ENT</li>

Job Summary and Qualifications
The Lead Anesthesia Technician plays a crucial role in delivering top-quality, patient-centered care by providing essential anesthesia support during surgical procedures. They are responsible for anticipating and fulfilling the needs of the anesthesia clinician through meticulous preparation and maintenance of supplies, patient monitoring equipment, and anesthesia delivery systems. As a vital member of the perioperative team, the Lead Anesthesia Technician works closely with the circulating RN and the perioperative team to ensure a safe and optimal patient perioperative experience. Additionally, they are involved in training and mentoring new and current employees under the direction of the supervisor. It is their duty to ensure that any new processes, equipment, or changes are effectively communicated and taught to other Anesthesia Technicians.
<ul>
<li>Prepares and organizes equipment and supplies for scheduled and emergent cases in anesthetising locations. Review present and future surgical schedules to ensure anesthesia staff have the essential equipment and supplies necessary for routine and challenging cases.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Creates and maintains orderly, well-stocked anesthesia carts of all types, such as emergency airway and pediatric. Anticipates anesthetist's preferences for efficient setup.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Transports and sets up equipment needed for procedures, including laryngoscope blades, monitors, EKG cables, ETCO2 lines, pulse oximetry cables, temperature cables, and oxygen tanks/tubing. Assures equipment is decontaminated and in good working condition before each procedure.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Applies basic knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and principles of growth and development as required to assist in anesthesia preparation/supply selection.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Assists in the transfer, positioning, prepping and draping of patients for anesthetic procedures by facility standards. Assists with the placement of non-invasive monitoring devices, such as blood pressure cuff, EKG leads, and pulse oximeter probe.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Assists with higher-level patient prep, such as intubation or invasive line placement/monitoring, once competency/certification is confirmed and as governed by local, state, and federal regulation and per facility policy.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Assists Anesthesiologist during scheduled and emergent procedures as directed, including monitoring of vital signs or retrieving needed equipment and supplies.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Follows department procedures for proper procurement and handling of non-controlled medications, I.V. fluids, contrast media, and irrigating fluids in the surgical services area.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Demonstrates effective communication skills when interacting with patients, family members, physicians, and co-workers. Utilizes appropriate chains of command to communicate pertinent information.</li>
</ul>
 
<ul>
<li>Contributes to performance improvement initiatives and works toward meeting and exceeding core measures, patient safety, and service excellence goals.</li>
