SUMMARY
An Ophthalmic Technician is a valuable asset to an Ophthalmologist as they assist in providing excellent patient care to the patients during their visit. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Practice urgency at all times with patient's time, as well as doctor's time and schedule</li>

<li>Recording medical history, current medications and confirming purpose of visit</li>
<li>Records all data in the patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR)</li>

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

<li>Color stereo Retinal Fundus photography and Serial Stereo Retinal Intravenous Fluorescein Angiography skills, including IV start up and dye administration. </li>
<li>External ocular photography and performs OCT on patients with speed and accuracy; may assist Physician(s) with treatments when needed. </li>
<li>Skilled in ophthalmic terminology, ability to type words accurately with speed and knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system; may be required to Scribe for Physicians if needed.  </li>
<li>Reviews patient's past and current medical and ophthalmic history, including information regarding medications, allergies and family history of eye problems. </li>
<li>Identifies any potential patient concerns and brings these issues to the attention of the Office Coordinator or Physician as appropriate. </li>
<li>Ability to measure and record both distance and near visual acuity and pinhole acuity; performs preliminary refraction using objective equipment. </li>
<li>Ability to measure intraocular pressures by applanation tonometry, pneumatonometry and/or use of tonopen and checks pupillary response to light and pupillary defects. </li>
<li>Performs basic visual field testing and patient education as directed by Physician. </li>

Job DescriptionDescriptionThe Ophthalmic Technician participates in the care of patients in a clinic setting.&nbsp; As an Ophthalmic Technician you will greet patients and explain what they should expect during their appointment. An Ophthalmic Technician escorts the patient to an exam room and performs diagnostic ophthalmic tests and procedures prior to physician seeing them such as visual acuity, tonometry and lensometry. Assures appropriate notes and updates patient chart/records accurately.&nbsp; Maintains clinic environment including sterilization cleaning. Schedule: What you will be doing

<li>Interacts with patients to accurately gather information and enter it into our electronic medical records system;&nbsp;</li>
<li>Proactively engages patients in communicating what to expect with the visit and continues to communicate delays or any other changes with the patient.</li>
<li>Initiates and performs documentation of the patient's chief complaint, present illness, and captures past medical history. &nbsp;</li>
<li>Accurately records all information in EMR system according to established standards and physician requirements</li>
<li>Conducts tests and measures eye muscle function, pupil size, and reactivity.</li>
<li>Apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes</li>
<li>Assists with minor surgery procedures, intraocular injections and laser treatments, in an exam room or treatment room, including preparing patients for sterile procedures.</li>
<li>Educates patients regarding the administration of medications, and pre and post operative instructions, as directed by physicians.</li>
<li>Readily scribes for physician</li>
<li>Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential, following all HIPAA requirements.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Utilizes effective problem-solving skills to respectfully and efficiently de-escalate any dissatisfied patients</li>
