SUMMARY
An Ophthalmic Technician is a valuable asset to an Ophthalmologist as they assist in providing excellent patient care to the patients during their visit. This employee is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam with an Ophthalmologist. 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 
<ul>
<li>Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone)</li>
<li>Display a professional attitude, greet patients promptly with a smile, and thank them when they leave</li>
<li>Practice urgency at all times with patient's time, as well as doctor's time and schedule</li>
<li>Comply with all company policies and procedures including HIPAA</li>
<li>Verify patient information by interviewing patient</li>
<li>Recording medical history, current medications and confirming purpose of visit</li>
<li>Records all data in the patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR)</li>
<li>Checks condition of patient's eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements</li>
<li>Required skills include: dilation, refraction, pressures, and performing a variety of diagnostic tests including visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, auto refractor and topography</li>
<li>Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications</li>
<li>General office duties and cleaning to be assigned by manager </li>

Job Description 
The Associate Scientific Director, Medical Affairs, provides strategic and operational input into core medical affairs activities for AbbVie’s Parkinson’s Therapeutic Area. Responsibilities include engaging with healthcare professionals and providers; generating clinical and scientific data to enhance therapeutic benefit and value; supporting educational initiatives such as medical education, dissemination of data, development of guidelines, and articulation of value propositions; and safeguarding patient safety through risk minimization and safety surveillance activities. The role works closely with commercial teams to provide strategic medical input into core brand strategies, supports medical and marketing activities (including the development of promotional materials) and facilitates market access.
Key Responsibilities: 
<ul>
<li>With oversight, provides input into the development of the medical strategy for approved assets within the therapeutic area.</li>
<li>Contributes to the development of, and leads the execution of, medical education tactics (i.e., field medical resources), advisory boards, and thought leader engagement plans in alignment with the indication or asset's strategic plan.</li>
<li>Leads conference planning and execution; represents AbbVie at external scientific meetings.</li>
<li>Responsible for performing accurate and detailed medical reviews of complex advertising and promotional materials for assigned therapeutic area(s) within Medical Affairs. Provides timely and accurate reviews of promotional materials in accordance with established policies and practice standards, including regulatory guidelines, to meet customer needs.</li>
<li>Leads internal medical training activities, including asset onboarding and ongoing education for cross-functional teams.</li>
<li>Supports the generation of clinical and scientific evidence to address identified evidence gaps.</li>
<li>Maintains up-to-date expertise in Parkinson’s disease through ongoing scientific education and congress participation; serves as a cross-functional subject matter expert for assigned initiatives.</li>
<li>Manages budgets for assigned Medical Affairs projects and initiatives.</li>
<li>Establishes and maintains strong, credible relationships with key opinion leaders and actively engages in Medical Affairs activities aligned with strategic objectives.</li>
</ul>
Qualifications 
<ul>
<li>Scientific degree (bachelor’s) required. Advanced Degree: PhD, PharmD, PA or NP strongly preferred. Residency or additional post doctorate experience preferred.</li>
<li>Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry or equivalent; substantial understanding of relevant therapeutic area required.</li>
<li>Knowledge of clinical trial methodology, regulatory requirements governing clinical trials</li>
<li>Interactions normally require the ability to gain cooperation of others, conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects and schedules, etc.</li>
<li>Ability to interact externally and internally to support global business strategy. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Interact and coordinate appropriate scientific and medical activities with internal stakeholders (i.e. commercial, clinical operations, discovery, statistics, regulatory, etc.) as they relate to on-going medical affairs projects.</li>
<li>Works with some supervision and guidance. Exercises judgment within well-defined practices and policies.</li>
</ul>

<li>Assist physicians with electrophysiology procedures including patient preparation, electrophysiological recording, mapping and ablation, and injection of contrast agent.</li>
<li>Monitor, measure and record patient hemodynamic data.</li>
<li>Operate physiologic and radiographic equipment while working in an invasive procedure area.</li>
<li>Collaborate with all disciplines for well-coordinated care.</li>
<li>Prepare patient for the procedure by performing assigned tasks (i.e. scrub, recording, circulating).</li>
<li>Assist with other activities that will facilitate effective/efficient use of the resources in the pre and post-procedure phases.</li>
</ul>
Requirements:
 
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 2 years of experience demonstrating proficiency in qualifications.</li>
<li>Experience in other areas of invasive cardiology in a clinical setting directly related to the required qualifications may be considered.</li>
<li>Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias</li>
<li>A basic understanding of congenital and acquired heart disease and peripheral vascular disease is necessary.</li>
<li>Understand the pathophysiology or disease process of atrial fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, cardiomyopathy, myocardial infarction, valvular disorders and the associated manifestations in patients.</li>
<li>Knowledge of diseases of other systems and their impact upon the cardiovascular system</li>
<li>Knowledge of universal precautions, infection control techniques and methods of cleaning and sterilization of surgical equipment.</li>
<li>Knowledge of patient physical and emotional reactions to procedures and ability to recognize and respond appropriately to potential emergencies.</li>
<li>Must have either prior experience or aptitude to learn basics for interrogation and programming.</li>
