SOME (So Others Might Eat) is currently seeking a full-time Clinician for our Behavioral Health Services department at our Conway location, adjacent to the Benning Road Metro (blue line) in NE Washington, DC.
Position Description: The Clinician utilizes evidence-based, trauma-informed best practices to provide diagnostic assessments, therapy, and clinical interventions to rimary and secondary survivors of gun violence who have been directly referred from the Office of Neighborhood Safety &amp; Engagement (ONSE). This role promotes holistic integration by collaborating with clients’ care teams within SOME and external community partners. The Clinician also ensures continuity of care by providing warm handoffs, support, and referrals to case managers, prescribers, and other providers affiliated with SOME’s programming.
THIS POSITION IS GRANT FUNDED
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm (40 hours per week)
Required: Master's Degree; 1+ years experience providing mental health interventions, working with underserved populations, and/or familiar with trauma-informed care
Preferred: Master's Degree in Social Work; LICSW/LPC issued by the District of Columbia Department of Health; 3+ years of experience providing diagnostic assessments, trauma-informed therapy, and clinical care coordination.
Required License/Certification: LGSW/ LGPC issued by the District of Columbia Department of Health; Basic Life Support [CPR &amp; AED] Provider

<li>Assess clients for appropriate clinical interventions (SBIRT, diagnostic assessment, therapy, clinical referrals, etc.)</li>
<li>Plan trauma-informed treatment for clients</li>
<li>Provide screening, brief intervention, and referrals to clients who are walk-ins and/or warm handovers from SOME's FQHCs</li>
<li>Provide crisis intervention services for clients experiencing a crisis in SOME's FQHCs</li>
<li>Maintain an ongoing mental health, trauma, and/or grief therapy caseload of clients</li>
<li>Facilitate groups, as assigned</li>
<li>Ensure clinical notes are entered within 1 business day of intervention</li>
</ul>
Clinical Care Coordination:
<ul>
<li>Support clients with adherence to appointments (outreach to clients who no-show)</li>
<li>Collaborate and refer clients to appropriate internal and external providers to address client needs</li>
<li>Refer clients to appropriate level of care as needed (Crisis Stabilization, ACT Teams, Hospitalization, CSAs, etc.)</li>
<li>Support with basic case management, as needed</li>

Integration:

<li>Attend various clinical meetings within FQHCs and SOME, which promote integration</li>
<li>Provide trauma-informed mental health consultation to FQHC providers and staff</li>
<li>Collaborate with the client's physicians/ prescribers/ and providers to ensure the client receives holistic care</li>
<li>Provide coverage to the second FQHC, as needed</li>

Employ evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Facilitate support groups and educational workshops on substance use prevention and recovery strategies.
 
4.Case Management:
Coordinate care with other healthcare professionals, including medical providers, psychiatrists, and social workers.
Refer clients to appropriate community resources, such as housing, employment, and educational services.
 
5.Crisis Intervention:
Provide immediate support and intervention during crisis situations, including risk assessments and safety planning.
Work with emergency services when necessary to ensure client safety and stabilization.
 
6.Collaboration:
Work effectively within a treatment team setting, actively collaborating with team members and medical providers to ensure comprehensive care.
 
7.Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Complete all required documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in a timely manner.
Be knowledgeable about documentation standards for private pay and NC Medicaid.
 
8.Professional Development:
Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in addiction treatment.
Attend regular supervision and team meetings to discuss cases and enhance clinical skills.
 
Qualifications:
 
Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Active LCAS certification in North Carolina; fully licensed preferred. Provisionally licensed candidates with verifiable four years of experience may also apply.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in substance abuse counseling or a related field.
Knowledge of substance use disorders, mental health issues, and co-occurring disorders.
Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities and intervention techniques.
