JOB SUMMARY:
Direct supervision and management of Intake and Scheduling coordination staff and daily operations of the Intake department. Manages the Intake Department in order to achieve the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan through overseeing all aspects of quality, service and financial functions of department served. Manages the organizing, coordinating and controlling the functions of the department as delegated by the Senior Director of Operations. Oversees the professional development of clinical staff and the progress of patients within the programs. Assures adherence to state statutes and rules, CARF standards, and federal regulations including HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2. Positively represents the organization and promotes Rimrock’s Mission to the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Management Responsibilities:

<li>Organizes and manages Intake policies and procedures to meet short-term and long-range strategic goals.</li>
<li>Monitors overall progress of services rendered within the Intake Department.</li>
<li>Oversees gathering of Quality markers and metrics of the Intake Department. </li>
<li>Actively participates in Risk Management and Quality improvement tasks</li>
<li>Manages staff timesheets and monitors for overtime.</li>
<li>Monitors outcomes for internal and external referrals and actively works with outside referral sources to increase Intake business development opportunities. </li>
<li>Provides ongoing training and support for Intake department staff. </li>
<li>All other duties as assigned</li>

CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES:

<li>Holds monthly departmental meetings with staff to assure effective communication.</li>
<li>Evaluates staff performance including direct observation of therapy and develops staff training plans.</li>
<li>Assures quality of patient care and compliance with all standards and reports results/problems.</li>
<li>Assists in recruiting and hiring.</li>
<li>Conduct quarterly reviews of budget with the Senior Director of Operations and stays within the approved budget.</li>
<li>Assures liaison/communication with referral sources regarding admissions and triage of in-coming and out-going phone calls.</li>
<li>Models professionalism by addressing others with appropriate actions, appearance and communication.</li>
<li>Works in a spirit of teamwork and trust and maintains professional boundaries in working with others; accepts responsibility for own behavior.</li>

EDUCATION/TRAINING: Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two years experience in a business environment. Insurance billing and claims monitoring experience preferred.
SKILLS: Excellent communication and organization. Demonstrated proficiency in a computerized database or document system as well as office applications. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft products including but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is indoors in an office environment with moderate noise. Intermittent physical effort involving lifting of up to 25 pounds, walking and stooping is required. A typical workday involves sitting, frequent use of a keyboard, reaching with hands and arms, and talking and hearing, approximately 70% of the time. Approximately 30% or less of the time is spent standing. Normal vision abilities required, including close vision and ability to adjust focus. 
WORK ENVIRONMENT/JOB LOCATIONS: Involves everyday risk or discomfort requiring normal safety precautions in an office setting, meeting room and vendor sites. Generally requires concentration and attention to detail. Driving required. Rimrock main and off-site facilities; vendor sites required by assignment.

Job Summary
RTC is a significant player in influencing federal and state transportation and recreation policies to support the development of trail and active transportation networks that promote mobility, health, economic vitality, livable communities, and environmental justice. Our strategy is to focus on making system-wide improvements to create safe, convenient walking and bicycling access to routine destinations so that people of all ages and abilities, regardless of their ZIP code, can get around on foot, bike, or wheelchair. Interns working with the RTC Policy team will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced policy professionals in Washington, D.C., and from around the country, and advocate on the state and federal level for transformative policy on active transportation and trail infrastructure. 
This 12-week internship program begins in June 2025. Interns will have the flexibility to work 20-35 hours per week on a regular, consistent schedule.
Job Location
This position is located in our Washington, D.C., National Headquarters and is eligible for a remote or hybrid work schedule in accordance with RTC’s policies. A hybrid schedule is preferred (working every Tuesday and/or Thursday in the D.C. office). 
 
Job Duties
The Public Policy Intern will assist the Policy Team with implementing strategies to achieve favorable outcomes in federal and state legislative efforts necessary to make our vision a reality. 
Duties will include the following:

<li>Supporting RTC staff and assisting with legislative advocacy for the policy agenda </li>
<li>Conduct background research on key members of Congress to determine their records and previous positions on active transportation and trails.</li>
<li>Identify communities with active transportation and trail network plans in key states and congressional districts</li>

<li>Produce project content for the RTC website and handouts.</li>

Abstracts and organizes data obtained from concurrent and retrospective chart review of thoracic surgery patient subsets. Inputs data into the national Society of Thoracic Surgery (STS) database. Performs outcomes analysis, identifies trends, initiates review and assists with coordination of MWHC quality improvement team meetings. Generates outcome reports with dissemination to Mary Washington Healthcare committees, Thoracic Surgeons, and managers. Ensures data integrity and timely harvest according to Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) definitions/specifications Collaborates with Manager to ensure validity of data. Acts as educational resource for other members of the Quality Improvement team. Performs chart review for current PI projects. Essential Functions &amp; Responsibilities:

<li>Responsible for capturing, validating, and inputting data into the STS database for both the Thoracic program.</li>
<li>Assists with abstractions and entries into the TVT and thoracic surgery database.</li>
<li>Interprets/analyzes data to determine trends, identify causative factors, and determine opportunities for improvement.</li>
<li>Generates outcome reports with dissemination to appropriate committees, managers, service line directors and MWHC Leadership.</li>
<li>Ensures that all functions of the registry are met for each accredited program using the guidelines set forth by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.</li>
<li>Provides/reinforces disease-specific education to patients, families and caregivers to support patient self-management and achieve optimal clinical outcomes.</li>
<li>Provides pre-operative patient education, as applicable.</li>
<li>Provides assistance with thoracic clinic, as applicable.</li>
<li>Analyzes and identifies readmission trends through chart review, patient/family interview and staff engagement, and develops processes to reduce readmissions.</li>

<li>Maintains and coordinates updates of STS Database; communicates with relevant STS parties.</li>
