Greenhouse Technician
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Technician to join our team in a long-term contract role. You will play a vital role in supporting laboratory analysis and plant care within our state-of-the-art greenhouse environment. This position offers the opportunity to work on a beautiful campus, with holiday and paid time off included.
Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Punch or cut and store small samples of plant tissue and deliver them for laboratory analysis while maintaining sample identity and proper storage conditions for thousands of samples.</li>
<li>Assist with experiments by collecting data and maintaining accurate records.</li>
<li>Provide daily care for greenhouse plants, including corn, soybean, wheat, and other crops.</li>
<li>Perform routine sanitation tasks in the greenhouse, such as discarding regulated material, destroying waste, and cleaning and sanitizing rooms.</li>

Additional Skills &amp; Qualifications

<li>High school diploma or GED required.</li>

The role involves repetitive work in a warm, humid greenhouse with pollen present throughout the year.

• Work in 42-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with 1:2 or 1:3 patient ratios \n• Weekend schedule: Every 3rd or 4th weekend as needed including holiday rotation if scheduled \n• No on-call responsibilities \n• 16 hours guaranteed per week (NBO) \n• Billable overtime: 36-40 hours/week with OT billable after 40 hours, or 48 hours/week with OT billable after 48 hours \n• Holiday pay at 1.15x multiplier \n• Call back pay at 1.5x multiplier with 2-hour minimum \n• Charge/Precepting differential: $6/hour \n• EMR system: EPIC \n• 4 months of NICU/Neonatal Intensive Care experience required \n• Must have completed at least one travel contract within the past 18 months (no first-time travelers) \n• May float to general pediatrics and PICU \n• Required certifications: BLS (AHA) and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) \n• Iowa nursing license required (or compact/multistate license) \n• Must have experience and comfort with vasopressors, sedation, and glucose administration \n• Care for premature infants and patients with respiratory distress/failure, hypoglycemia, and other neonatal conditions \n• Professional reference from charge/supervisor/nurse manager within 24 months preferred
