Job Summary
As Chief Hotel Engineer at the Kellogg Conference Center / Gallaudet University, you will maintain responsibility and authority in physical property, including: planning, implementing, coordinating and managing all mechanical operations, maintenance, repair, design, specification, and modification. You will&nbsp; oversee department budget controls and provide coaching, teaching and formal supervision to individual employees. You will plan and monitor appropriate staffing levels and utilization of labor, including overtime.&nbsp; Will prepare and deliver performance appraisal for staff and mentor / coach team members to further develop competencies.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Key Responsibilities:

<li>Manages capital budget, as needed and projects. Prepares and executes department budget in conjunction with General Manager</li>
<li>Liaise with GU on all building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC and electrical issues.</li>
<li>Maintains on-going communication with clients, management team and vendors. &nbsp;</li>
<li>Performs human resource functions for staff, including supervision, training, and evaluating.</li>
<li>Manages contractor / vendor work in conjunction with University Facilities.</li>
<li>Analyze utility consumption including moving to more energy efficient facility.</li>
<li>Develops safety policies, procedures, and programs for the property.</li>
<li>Ensures that all buildings / equipment are in good working order and are consistent with quality standards of the property.</li>
<li>Establishes and maintains a preventative maintenance program.</li>
<li>Knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, etc. system.</li>
<li>Knowledge of OSHA and General Safety.</li>
<li>Coordinates maintenance efforts with outside contractors.</li>
<li>Negotiates contracts for property operations when needed.</li>
<li>Compiles and prepares reports for upper management's review and use.</li>
<li>Daily walk through all areas and talks to managers in Front Desk, Kitchen, Banquets, Finance, Sales, Etc.</li>
<li>Responsible for reviewing, clarifying, and administering all safety related policies and procedures for a specific division of Flik. Recommends substantial safety enhancements and implements accordingly for division (major area). Responsible for accidents, injuries, and worker's compensation insurance for that area.</li>

• Permitting experience in telecommunications such as: right of way (ROW), pole, railroad, and government agency permitting is preferred.

Field Engineer:
Primary Responsibility: Estimate quantity take offs for drilling and blasting bids. Production estimates of these quantities are done by others. Field surveys with GPS equipment to establish top of rock elevations. Field coordination with blasters for scope of work evaluation of bid versus actual work. Project engineering necessary to manage percent complete of invoices as well as costs. 
Essential Duties: • Will participate in the MDB safety culture by following all company safety policies and practices. • Utilize Carlson Takeoff Software to perform quantity take offs for drilling and blasting bids. • Communication with MDB trusted customers to check quantity take offs and mutually agree to the scope of work on bidding projects. • Perform field surveys with total station or GPS survey equipment to create a top of rock surface by locating ledge that has been stripped of overburden or by locating probe holes with depth to ledge determined. • Maintain clear, accurate and timely job files of all projects that are bid or ongoing. • Perform regular job site surveys to determine percent complete for quantities and costs on projects. • Maintain professional representation to develop and foster customer relationships. • Be able to work with blasters, superintendents, and division managers, including listening to questions, researching answers and providing the support for them to improve performance of their job position. • Provide leadership in job start up planning to review the scope of work with the blaster in charge. Project start up items: Budget, blast plan, schedule, schedule of values, grab and go, submittals, material purchases, subcontract technical terms negotiations. • Provide training, guidance, direction and leadership to others to ensure work is performed to MDB standards and customer expectations. • Participate in monthly job status meetings to assist Divisional Managers to determine if jobs are invoiced accurately or if they are under or overbilled and provide reasons why. • Monitor scopes of work, recognizing scope changes, and create change order documents. • Work with the administrative team and Division Manager to determine monthly quantities for invoicing purposes. • Assist Division Manager with owner correspondence. • All other duties as assigned.

Job Summary
Plant Manager/Chief Engineer Job Description Working as the Plant Manager/Chief Engineer, you will help to oversee and coordinate activities of the plant operation department working under the direction of the Director and/or Senior Assistant Director. Responsibilities: • &nbsp; &nbsp;Plans, organize and controls activities of the plant operation department under the guidelines of the Director or Assistant Director to keep staff engaged in maintaining, repairing, and renovating facility's plant and facilities. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Plans and supervising plant operation and capital projects, ensuring compliance with regulations, developing preventative plant operation programs, managing utility systems, and coordinating with other hospital departments and external contractors.&nbsp; • &nbsp; &nbsp;Oversee energy management, and life safety systems to ensure a safe and efficient environment for patient care • &nbsp; &nbsp;Maintains flow and quality of work to assure timely completion of assigned workload and adherence to standards of quality control. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Reviews and evaluates existing methods, systems, programs, practices and procedures, develops and recommends changes to Director or Assistant Director. Implements or guides implementation of new and/or modifies methods, systems, programs, practices and/or procedures. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Prepares and maintains a variety of department records in compliance of JC, CMS, DNV, DOH and local authorities having jurisdiction. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Maintains adequate inventory of materials, equipment, and supplies and initiates requisitions as needed. • &nbsp; &nbsp;Serves as a member of the facility's fire response team. Qualifications: • &nbsp; &nbsp;High School diploma or GED required; 2-year trade school or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred; prior military experience will be highly considered • &nbsp; &nbsp;A valid 1st Class Steam Engineer License issued by the State of Maryland or 3rd Class Steam Engineer License issued by the District of Columbia • &nbsp; &nbsp;EPA Section 608 Technician Certification • &nbsp; &nbsp;Minimum of 5 years’ facilities experience with emphasis on business services within a large organization preferred • &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to meet deadlines and make sound decisions in stressful situations • &nbsp; &nbsp;Strong customer service skills required • &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form • &nbsp; &nbsp;Ability to multi-task, organize, and establish priorities • &nbsp; &nbsp;Exhibit initiative, responsibility, and flexibility • &nbsp; &nbsp;Commitment to hands-on, team-oriented management • &nbsp; &nbsp;Experience in leading, training and mentoring others • &nbsp; &nbsp;Proficiency using the Internet and Microsoft Office programs including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook

Entry-Level Field Engineer
The successful candidate for this entry-level position will be assigned to work on a project site, under the supervision of the Project Manager and Superintendent on the job. 
Responsibilities include the following: 
<ul>
<li>Survey layout of control lines and establish various locations in relation to property lines. </li>
<li>Interpret drawings and assist construction supervision and trades personnel in maintaining adherence to locations, dimensions and specifications. </li>
<li>Perform as-built survey of work in place, including generating electronic records. </li>
<li>Estimate quantity of materials and related items for various aspects of the work. </li>
<li>Quality control oversight of the work of various trades as required by project specifications. </li>
<li>Work with and assist subcontractors in following drawings, specifications, quality standards, and in coordinating details of scheduling. </li>
<li>Maintain effective communication with construction supervision, architects, and engineers.</li>
<li>Execute company safety requirements including daily site inspection for conformance with the company safety policy and OSHA standards</li>

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the on-site execution of construction projects by ensuring that all engineering and technical aspects are carried out in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and safety standards. As an entry-level position, you will receive guidance and mentorship from senior engineers, providing opportunities for hands-on learning and career growth in the construction industry.
 
Responsibilities:

<li>Assist in the management and coordination of day-to-day operations on construction sites.</li>
<li>Review and interpret engineering drawings, plans, and specifications.</li>
<li>Conduct site inspections and surveys to verify work is being completed according to design and safety standards.</li>
<li>Document and report any discrepancies or issues encountered on-site to the senior engineering team.</li>
<li>Support the preparation of project schedules, progress reports, and daily logs.</li>

What Were Looking For:

<li>An Associate/BS degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred.</li>
<li>At least 6 months of experience in construction, design, architecture, engineering, or a related field.</li>
<li>Familiarity with PlanGrid, Procore, and Sage 300 Timberline, with the expectation to become proficient within the first 6 months.</li>
<li>Strong organizational skills and great attention to detail.</li>
<li>Proficiency in Excel and all MS Office programs.</li>
<li>Excellent and proactive communication skills (written, phone, and in-person).</li>
<li>Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, subcontractors, vendors, architects, designers, and the community.</li>
</ul>
