Job Description
Summary
The Field Service Technician, Automation will install, commission, maintain and/or repair Ranpak Automation equipment (at various customer locations) while maximizing machine uptime and customer’s satisfaction. This role will also support other administrative duties within the Service and Parts Department.
Essential Duties &amp; Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Fully accountable for completing the work according to the service work order</li>
<li>Support the Ranpak Tech Support Hotline when necessary</li>
<li>Prioritizes working safely at all times and abides by any specific customer requirements</li>
<li>Responsible for writing detailed and accurate field service reports</li>
<li>Accountable for timely submission of field service reports and expenses.</li>
<li>Maintains communications with customers and Ranpak personnel about the progress of the job</li>
<li>Helps to build and maintain professional relationships with various customers</li>
<li>Responsible for keeping the tools and other equipment (e.g. service van) in good condition</li>
<li>Responsible for a clean and tidy machine/working place when leaving the customer’s location</li>
<li>Actively contributes to a professional and profitable service organization</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned by manager</li>
</ul>

Qualifications

· Formal electrical/mechanical training from a university or technical school is preferred, or 4 years’ experience with industrial automation maintenance &amp; troubleshooting.
· Ability to travel within North America on short notice, ramp up to 50-70% travel is expected
· Strong mechanical/electronic skills to analyze and resolve problems of complex machinery
· Able to understand and work with PLCs of different vendors (e.g. Siemens, Beckhoff, etc.)
· Logical and solution-oriented thinking
· Self-Motivated, aspiring to improve technical knowledge and keep skills sharp.
· Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
· Good verbal &amp; written communication
· Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
· Highly focused on customer service and exceeding client expectations
· Above average use of computer applications like MS Office
· Flexible working hours to meet customer needs. Occasional weekend and off-shift hours

Office Setting
· Choice of sitting or standing or alternating between them (stand-up desk optional)
· Keyboarding/typing on a computer for extended periods of time
· Moderate noise, i.e., phones, printer, light foot traffic

Job Description 
Required Qualifications (Bold = mandatory skills/experience)
5–10 years of hands-on experience testing medium/high-voltage electrical systems.
Strong expertise in protective relays: SEL, Basler, Beckwith, GE.
Proficiency with Omicron/Doble test sets and associated software: ENOSERV RTS, Test Universe, AcSELerator.
Ability to travel up to 85% and work long field days.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
Valid driver's license and insurable MVR record.
Must pass drug test, background check, and MVR screening.
Minimum education: Associate Degree (Electrical-related preferred).
Key Responsibilities
Test and commission Protection &amp; Control (P&amp;C) systems at high-voltage substations (15 kV–500 kV).
Perform advanced relay testing using Omicron or Doble test equipment (SEL &amp; GE relays).
Interpret and work from electrical drawings, schematics, and one-line diagrams.
Support project leads, follow strict safety protocols, and maintain accurate documentation.
Complete field reports, timecards, and expense logs.
Ensure compliance with NETA, IEEE, and NFPA standards.
