About the Role:

The Assistant Coach Baseball plays a vital role in supporting the head coach to develop and enhance the skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship of student-athletes within an educational setting. This position focuses on fostering a positive and competitive environment that encourages personal growth, discipline, and athletic excellence. The assistant coach will contribute to planning and executing training sessions, analyzing player performance, and providing constructive feedback to help athletes reach their full potential. Collaboration with coaching staff, athletic directors, and educational personnel is essential to align the baseball program with the institution’s values and goals. Ultimately, the role aims to cultivate a successful and cohesive baseball team that represents the school with integrity and competitive spirit.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or related field preferred.
  • Prior experience playing or coaching baseball at the high school or collegiate level.
  • Strong knowledge of baseball rules, techniques, and training methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with adolescent athletes and foster a supportive learning environment.
  • Clear background check and eligibility to work within an educational institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coaching certification from recognized organizations such as the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) or USA Baseball.
  • Experience in athletic training, injury prevention, and first aid certification.
  • Demonstrated success in developing competitive baseball teams.
  • Experience working within a school or youth sports program.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to engage parents and school staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices and training sessions.
  • Provide individualized coaching to players to improve their technical skills, game understanding, and physical conditioning.
  • Support game-day preparations including strategy implementation, player substitutions, and in-game adjustments.
  • Monitor and promote athletes’ academic progress and adherence to school policies and codes of conduct.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to evaluate player performance and develop improvement plans.
  • Help organize team travel, equipment management, and communication with players and parents.
  • Promote a positive team culture emphasizing respect, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Skills:

The Assistant Coach Baseball utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to motivate and instruct student-athletes effectively. Technical knowledge of baseball fundamentals and strategies is applied to design practice drills and game plans that enhance player development and team performance.
