About the Resilient Scholars Program 

This program will work with young people who have exited or are exiting from New Beginnings who are 
working towards graduating or obtaining their GED by providing tutoring, mentoring as well as providing 
workforce development. This is an intensive program with regular check-ins on progress towards 
graduation, job readiness and employment. 

Position Summary 

The College and Career Coach is responsible for conducting assessments and matching youth with tutors 
and support. They will work to ensure the implementation of education plans of each youth and establish 
plans for on-time graduation. 

Qualifications 

● Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, or a Human Services related field OR 
three years of experience working with at risk youth, vulnerable populations - preferably youth 
who have been involved in the criminal justice system 
● Experience in providing tutoring support and navigating the educational system required. 
● Strong communication and organizational skills required; and, 
● Reporting to the Program Manager, this is a full-time, exempt level position. All candidates must 
possess a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation; pass the required clearances; and 
provide any additional information regarding previous records, if necessary. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

● Create and develop a personal Educational Plan with each youth; this plan includes information 
on what the client’s definition of academic success is along with their challenges and intended 
next steps; this plan will serve as the basis for program success and will also ensure to 
encapsulate information on attendance, grades, progress notes, any behavioral issues and 
modification plans, extracurricular and other supports required; tutor youth as needed 
● Re-evaluations of Education Plans at 6 month intervals or sooner based on client’s needs; 
● Oversees virtual and in person tutoring services for clients; supervises tutors and checks in 
regularly to ensure clients are meeting studying and educational goals in tutoring; 
● Creates overall curriculum for clients in programming; creates and regularly facilitates trainings 
and workshops on relevant topics including study skills development, graduation requirements, 
trade schools, college applications, college access exams, and other related topics; 
● Collaborates with school staff, tutoring agency, and other educational supports when relevant; 
● Provide familial support services including home visits; include family members in Education 
Plans; 
● Refer clients to coding and technology courses and certification programs; supports clients in 
applying as well as throughout time in courses/programs; 
● Collaborate with the Sasha Bruce College and Career Program Director when appropriate; 
● Support or provide crisis intervention and on-site counseling when appropriate; 
● Complete service documentation in client case records within 24-48 hours of the service; 
maintain accurate, complete, and confidential case files, written documentation, reports to track 
client progress and outcomes; 
● Participates in regular team consultation meetings with staff working with shared clients;

Serves as a knowledgeable resource for other staff. 20. Works with the Teachers to continually train and supervise the activities of Assistants, Child Care Workers, substitutes, and new coworkers assigned to the group, helping them relate to and supervise the children. 21. Models appropriate positive behavior guidance techniques and trains other staff so that guidance is consistent. 22. Works together with all program staff to solve problems, achieve goals, and respectfully communicate needs. 23. Shares responsibilities for the general maintenance and cleanliness of entire building and grounds to meet regulatory standards and under the direction and supervision of the CCCC Administrators. 24. Shares opening and closing responsibilities with the Teachers. 25. Completes special duties or assignments, some during office time, as assigned by the Director. 26. Attend family and center events, like potlucks, family fun nights, field trips. Requires additional evening or weekend hours 1 or 2 times a semester. 27. Serves in the Director's absence to ensure smoother operations of the Center in conjunction with co-Teachers, Education Coordinator and Assistant Director. 28. Assists in evacuation of the building in an emergency, and responds immediately to any emergency situations. 29. Complies with all applicable universal precautions and infection control guidelines and procedures. 30. Understands and abides by licensing and accreditation regulations and all program policies and procedures. 31. Attends professional workshop and staff meetings, participates in in-service training as required by Licensing, Head Start, and NAEYC. 32. Arrives in the classroom on time, ready to interact positively with all children, parents, and staff.
