Job Summary
The Peer Support Specialist (PSS) provides peer support as someone who has similar life experiences and acts as a positive role model for living in recovery. The PSS is a member of interdisciplinary teams participating in collaboratively supporting an individual’s self-defined and self-directed care. The PSS supports the individual being served by creating their own person-directed recovery plan and accomplishing goals towards their self-defined recovery journey plan. They provide a listening, nonjudgmental presence and connect individuals being served with a full range of community resources. This position provides support to individuals residing in Clackamas County.
Support may be offered to individuals involved with multiple systems, including but not limited to the Clackamas County Criminal Justice and/or Child Welfare systems. The PSS/CRM plays a key role in supporting individuals connected with the Mental Health Court (MHC), including providing peer-based crisis support and assistance during critical transition points. Individuals may be engaged at any stage -- from initial contact with law enforcement or child welfare to hospitalization, inpatient treatment, incarceration, or court involvement -- and are often working toward stabilization and reentry into home and community life. This role requires the ability to respond with empathy, flexibility, and a trauma-informed approach to complex and dynamic recovery needs.

<li>Crisis Support with introduction and connection to the Clackamas County Mental Health Clinic (MHC) as a crisis resource</li>
<li>Support individuals in reconnecting with family and children, including rebuilding relationships and navigating visitation requirements. </li>
<li>Addressing basic needs of shelter/housing, food, physical wellness, and entitlements/benefits</li>
<li>Supporting successful outcomes with Oregon Psychiatric Security Review Board (PSRB) and transitioning to lower levels of care/housing</li>
<li>Acts as a positive role model for individuals being served and exploring their own path to wellness and recovery</li>
<li>Respects and honors a person’s rights and responsibilities and demonstrates professional boundaries and ethics</li>
<li>Adheres to mandatory abuse reporting laws and HIPAA requirements</li>
<li>Complete other relevant duties as assigned</li>
