Job Description
The Day Services Life Skills Instructor provides services to individuals with autism and other intellectual disabilities in the Community Integration Center (CIC) and in the community. This role focuses on all aspects of integration, including gaining exposure to and exploring a variety of activities and experiences that build the skills necessary to gain independence in the home and in the community.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
<ul>
<li>Support individuals in developing and maintaining skills necessary for independent community participation.</li>
<li>Assist in planning and implementing activities that promote community engagement and social interaction.</li>
<li>Ensure the safety and well-being of individuals during community outings and activities.</li>
<li>Provide emotional support and encouragement to individuals to foster self-confidence and independence.</li>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Assignment may require the ability to physically move clients during possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment.

EXPECTED SCHEDULE
This is a full-time 40-hour-per-week position, Monday through Friday 8am-4pm, unless otherwise approved. 
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

<li>Staying familiar with YWCA of Lancaster policies and procedures, Child Care manual procedures and Keystone Stars requirements to ensure program quality. </li>
<li>Enforcing center policies with parents and children. </li>
<li>Practicing flexibility regarding the staffing needs of the center. </li>
<li>Assist in any/all classrooms or center that are assigned by the Supervisor. </li>
<li>Cover breaks when assigned, and cover in classrooms during staff absences. </li>
<li>Ratio must always be maintained. Staff will be required to stay past the end of their shift if necessary to maintain ratios. </li>
<li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li>

<li>High School diploma or GED</li>
<li>2,500 hours is childcare experience is required.</li>
<li>Must be able to lift 45 lbs. and have movement ability to sit, stand, crawl, climb, lift overhead, bend and move from sitting position on floor to standing position.</li>
<li>Attend a minimum of 12 hours of training per year. </li>
<li>Working cooperatively with other YWCA Childcare programs. </li>
<li>Advocating for Early Childhood Education programs in the state of Pennsylvania. </li>
<li>Attending staff meetings. </li>
<li>Uphold and demonstrate to all staff, students, parents, and children the YWCA mission. </li>
<li>Participate in at least one mission related activity a year. </li>

 Part-time school-age assistant teacher, 10-20 hours per week. Primary hours will be 7am-9am daily with an opportunity to increase hours by working with another age group if desired. Responsibilities include: Assisting lead teacher wherever needed, gross motor and classroom time supervision, and communicating with parents. Requirements: high school diploma or GED. 2 years of experience with children or an education degree (i.e. CDA, Associate's, Bachelor's) preferred but not required.
