Oversees LeadingAge legal committee activities, including requests for legal assistance. The VP of Legal Affairs reports to the Senior VP of Public Policy.
This position will advance the LeadingAge annual public policy and advocacy agenda and advance key relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

<li>Lead advocacy efforts that preserve the tax-deductible contribution benefit for donors and tax-exempt status for members.</li>

<li>Develops and implements strategies to influence Congress and the Executive Branch on LeadingAge issues.</li>
<li>Serves as resource for LeadingAge members, Congress and the Executive Branch, and other organizations on legal and legislative issues of concern to LeadingAge members.</li>
<li>Develops and maintain relations with and, represent LeadingAge before, other organizations interested in long-term services and supports and non-profit status.</li>

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE:

<li>J.D. from accredited law school required; minimum 10 years’ related legal experience in long-term care, healthcare, housing or elder law issues; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Should be admitted to the Bar in one or more states.</li>
<li>In addition to a thorough understanding of state and federal court systems, knowledge of the congressional, legislative, and state/federal regulatory process is required. Background in areas such as professional liability, fair housing and disability law, health care fraud and abuse desirable. Litigation experience very important. Excellent legal research and writing skills are mandatory. Computer-literacy needed.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to “think outside the box” in finding creative approaches to complicated issues and ability to function efficiently in a team environment.</li>

Student Support (Special Education/English Learner) Teacher Job Description The Student Support (Special Education/English Learner) Teacher is one of the primary instructional and people leaders that influence the lives of children at Global Citizens PCS. Special Education/English Learner Teachers will work with general education teachers to foster a student-centered learning environment that respects the culture and identity of each and every child, so they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. In early childhood, our children will learn all content areas in the partner language for approximately 90% of the school day. They will learn their early literacy and math skills in English for approximately 10% of the school day. In elementary school (Kindergarten through 5th grade), we use a 50/50 model, where our children receive standards-based instruction (aligned to the Common Core State Standards) in reading, writing, math, and science in the target language for 50% of the time and in English for 50% of the time (each day). Student Support (Special Education/English Learner) Teacher will teach all content areas in the partner language and will serve as the instructional lead and model for the partner language.
