Federally funded initiatives provide early childhood education and related comprehensive services for low-income parents and children, and children with special needs. The primary responsibility of the Preschool Teacher is implementation of an individualized and comprehensive early childhood education program for children and their families, and to provide supervision to classroom staff. This position is under the direct supervision of the Area Manager.
Essential Duties: 
1. Behaves in a manner that supports the agency's mission and follows personnel policies and procedures.
2. Provides individualized and comprehensive early childhood education services in accordance with federal performance standards and current best practice in the field of early childhood education.
3. Provides leadership to classroom staff and assumes all the responsibilities of a supervisor for the staff that report directly to this position.
4. Is responsible for ensuring that all participants receive timely and appropriate developmental screenings.
5. Obtains, maintains, and coordinates the use of all physical resources available and ensures the maintenance of a safe, healthy, stimulating, developmentally appropriate learning environment that meets licensing and federal standards.
6. Is responsible for accurate and complete documentation, that all required confidentiality of consumer records is maintained, and that all procedures are in accordance with established standards.
7. Plans and conducts monthly lesson planning sessions with classroom staff members.

BASIS is seeking an experienced Special Education Teacher who is eager to develop leadership skills by serving as a member of the school’s administrative team. This is a teacher/administrator hybrid role whose primary responsibilities include the provision of special education services and supporting special education program operations as part of the administrative team at a school site.
Required Qualifications:

<li>A Bachelor's degree in Special Education or Master's Degree</li>
<li>A valid state issued Cross-Categorical certificate OR the Mild-Moderate Disabilities certificate </li>
<li>A valid fingerprint clearance and/or satisfactory applicable state background check</li>

Preferred Qualifications:

<li>Experience working as a special education teacher in a K-12 school setting is preferred</li>
<li>Demonstrate knowledge and credibility to parents, students, staff, supervisors, and outside agencies through oral and written communication that is timely, confident, and articulate</li>

<li>A thorough knowledge of current disability law (IDEA, Section 504)</li>

Primary Job Responsibilities:
<ul>
<li>Adapting and delivering specially designed instruction to eligible students with disabilities;</li>
<li>Providing case management services for students with disabilities including plan/program development, provision, and compliance;</li>
<li>Supervising itinerant related service providers;</li>
<li>Coordinating and assuring full state and federal compliance with all aspects of programming (identification, review, dismissal) for students with disabilities per the IDEA, Section 504 and the ADA;</li>
<li>Preparing and reporting accurate and timely data for internal and external regulatory purposes;</li>
<li>Supporting general education teachers and collaborating with administrators to ensure the provision of FAPE</li>
