Job Title: Journeyman Electrician
Job Description
This role focuses on installing, wiring, and interconnecting solar power systems in a fast-paced, outdoor construction environment. You will perform electrical work on DC and medium-voltage systems, read and interpret electrical plans, and ensure all installations meet safety and code requirements while supporting high-volume production schedules.
Responsibilities
- Pull and terminate DC and medium-voltage cables to support solar power system installations.
- Wire combiner boxes and connect solar modules to inverters according to electrical plans and standards.
- Bend, cut, and install conduit runs to route electrical wiring safely and efficiently.
- Build service pads and install racking grounds to support solar module infrastructure.
- Read and interpret single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and site engineering plans to complete installations accurately.
- Perform continuity and voltage tests using multimeters to verify proper operation of electrical systems.
- Enforce safety standards and ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and site safety requirements.
- Assist operators in moving solar modules to workstations and lift 25–30 lbs repeatedly as modules are installed on racks.
- Carry old modules and cables to designated disposal areas or dumpsters in a safe and efficient manner.
- Place bolts or screws into appropriate holes to secure modules in place, using power drills and hand tools.
- Install all modules on racking systems at a sustained, fast pace to meet daily production goals.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in an active construction site.
- Work effectively as part of a field installation team, communicating clearly with colleagues and supervisors.
- Adapt to changing site conditions and priorities while maintaining quality and productivity.
Essential Skills
- Current registration as a Journeyman Electrician with the state of Montana.
- Proficiency in pulling, terminating, and installing DC and medium-voltage electrical cables.
- Experience wiring combiner boxes and connecting solar modules to inverters.
- Ability to bend, cut, and install conduit in a construction environment.
- Strong skills in reading and interpreting single-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and site engineering plans.
- Hands-on experience performing continuity and voltage tests using multimeters.
- Solid understanding of safety practices and National Electrical Code (NEC) compliance for field installations.
- Ability to lift and repeatedly handle 30+ lbs throughout the workday.
- Capability to work at a fast pace while maintaining accuracy and safety.
- Experience working in outdoor, non-residential construction environments.
- Electrical troubleshooting skills for identifying and resolving issues in the field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experinece in construction, labor, or installation work in an industrial or utility-scale setting.
- Experience working with solar racking systems and module installation.
- Comfort using power drills, hand tools, and related construction equipment.
- Ability to meet daily production goals and perform under pressure in a high-volume environment.
- Comfort walking and working on uneven ground for extended periods.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including overtime and weekends, as needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in a non-residential construction environment, working outdoors on solar installation sites. Typical hours run from sunup to sundown, currently around 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime during the week and on Saturdays and Sundays. Candidates may work up to approximately 80 hours per week during peak periods. Work is performed in varying and sometimes extreme temperature conditions, and you will be expected to handle wind, sun, cold, heat, and other weather-related factors. The job site grounds are very uneven, requiring constant walking, lifting, and maneuvering equipment and materials throughout the day. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $62.09 - $62.09/hr.
