A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP) / CAREGIVER
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver, you begin each shift ready to help adults with developmental disabilities live their best lives as independently as possible. You have made it your mission to ensure the comfort and safety of each client. In our residential group home, you assist our residents with activities of daily living such as administering medication, cooking meals, performing personal hygiene, and transportation to medical appointments.
 
You also assist in the implementation of individual behavioral plans. Using effective teaching and mentoring techniques, you teach them new skills and help them achieve goals. Based on each individual's preferences and behavioral plans, you encourage their interests and drive them to community outings and recreational activities. You are happy to help them find greater access to the community. You are conscientious about reporting any concerns about their health and safety and keeping documentation accurate and up-to-date.
 
Some aspects of this job are not easily accomplished but at the end of each shift, knowing your clients are happy makes you feel great about the work you do!
 
QUALIFICATIONS

<li>High school diploma or equivalent</li>
<li>Valid driver's license with a good driving record</li>
<li>Ability to pass criminal/registry background checks and a drug screen</li>
<li>Clear tuberculosis (TB) screening</li>
<li>Ability to pass and maintain required trainings such as CPR/first aid, medication administration, and positive behavioral support training</li>

WORK SCHEDULE
We operate 24-hour residential group homes which means our Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) / Caregivers have many shift options including mornings, afternoons, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
 
TRAINING
All employees are required to complete 10-15 trainings upon hire and on an ongoing basis. Trainings are a combination of in person, which require staff to commute to the main office in Raritan NJ, and remote, using Go To Meeting. All trainings are paid.

Job Description
Opdenaker Trash &amp; Recycling is a family-owned and -operated company that has been providing trash and recycling removal services in Southeastern Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware for over 55 years. Our company is seeking full-time, reliable, and hard-working professional truck drivers to collect commercial and residential wastes and recyclables and transport them to the appropriate disposal facility. Start time is 5:15 am, Monday through Friday, with some Saturday work. There is the potential for overtime. A qualified candidate will have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record, and an excellent attitude. Experience with rear-end, front-end, and/or rolloff trucks is a plus.
Job Description:
<ul>
<li>Maintain a valid PA or DE Commercial Driver License (CDL Class B or equipvalent) with air brake endorsement</li>
<li>Ability to meet all requied DOT physical and medical requirements</li>
<li>Ability to safely operate truck in accordance with DOT Regulations, Company Procedures and Policies, and Best Management Practices</li>
<li>Ability to use designated electronic system that delineates the route/pickups/work orders</li>
<li>Commuincate with Dispatch to enusre all stops are picked up, to receive any special instructions, and to communicate any questions about a pickup to Dispatch</li>
<li>Transport municipal wastes or recyclables to the approved disposal facility</li>
<li>Obtain load weight tickets and sign for loads at the apporved disposal facility</li>
<li>Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections and document them in Opdenaker's electronic record system</li>
<li>Pass a pre-hire drug and alcohol screen test per DOT regulations and company policy</li>
<li>Pass random drug and alcohol est per DOT regulations and company policy</li>
<li>Adhere to company's operating procedures and safety policies and practices</li>
<li>Attend and participate in Company traning and safety meetings</li>
<li>Ability to deal with customers and co-workers in an effective and courtesy manner</li>
<li>Maintain a vehicle which is clean inside and out and presents a positive public image of Opdenaker</li>
</ul>
Job and Physical Capabilities:
<ul>
<li>Minimum of 1-year commerical driving experience</li>
<li>Able to start at 5:15 am, Monday through Friday as well as some Saturdays; typically work 8 hours per day</li>
<li>Ability to arrive at Opdenaker's Aston, PA facility on time each scheduled workday</li>
<li>Flexibility to work another route or handle additional stops when needed</li>
<li>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds</li>
<li>Ability to push/pull wheeled containers of trash/recylcables that require a heavy pushing/pulling force for up to several hundred feet and up and down inclines, depending on the customer's location</li>
<li>Manually assist helpers with the collection of trash as well as large or heavy objects</li>
<li>Ability and flexibility to climb in and out of the truck as well as stoop or bend unassisted as needed mulitple times a day</li>
<li>Ability to work outside in all types of weather</li>
</ul>
Salary:
<ul>
<li>$25 - $30 per hour</li>
<li>Overtime eligible at 1.5X over 40 hours in a work week</li>
</ul>
