ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

<li>Perform thorough DOT inspections and repairs on Company vehicles and machines.</li>
<li>Use different hand tools and powered equipment, such as impact wrenches, welding equipment, hoists, jacks, etc. to repair trucks while constantly utilizing safety precautions.</li>
<li>Diagnose malfunctions in defective equipment by inspecting and testing using electronic diagnostic equipment and wiring schematics, and then efficiently making those repairs.</li>

<li>Diagnose and replace parts, valves, bearings, assemblies, etc. as needed, including heating and A/C systems</li>

Key Responsibilities:

Inspection and Diagnosis:
<ul>
<li>Conduct thorough inspections of vehicle exhaust systems to identify issues, including leaks, corrosion, damage, and exhaust emissions problems.</li>
<li>Use diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint exhaust system malfunctions.</li>
<li>Interpret diagnostic results and discuss findings with customers.</li>
</ul>

<li>
Repairs and Maintenance:
<ul>
<li>Perform repairs on exhaust systems, including welding, patching, or replacing damaged components such as mufflers, catalytic converters, pipes, and hangers.</li>
<li>Conduct exhaust system modifications or upgrades as per customer requests.</li>
<li>Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as tightening clamps and securing loose components.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
Emissions Testing:
<ul>
<li>Conduct emissions testing to ensure vehicles meet environmental standards and regulations.</li>
<li>Make necessary adjustments or repairs to reduce emissions to acceptable levels.</li>
<li>Keep abreast of changing emission regulations and technology.</li>
</ul>

<li>
Customer Interaction:
<ul>
<li>Provide clear explanations of necessary repairs or replacements to customers.</li>
<li>Offer accurate estimates for repair costs and timelines.</li>
<li>Address customer concerns and answer questions regarding exhaust system issues.</li>

Documentation and Record-Keeping:
<ul>
<li>Maintain accurate records of all work performed, including parts used, labor hours, and customer information.</li>
<li>Complete service reports and invoices for customers.</li>
</ul>

Safety and Compliance:
<ul>
<li>Follow safety protocols and guidelines when working with exhaust systems and related equipment.</li>
<li>Comply with environmental regulations regarding emissions control and disposal of hazardous materials.</li>
<li>Ensure that the workplace is clean, organized, and safe.</li>
</ul>

Equipment and Tool Maintenance:
<ul>
<li>Maintain and calibrate tools and equipment used for exhaust system repairs.</li>
<li>Report any equipment issues or needs for replacement.</li>
</ul>

Qualifications:
<ul>
<li>High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in automotive repair is preferred.</li>
<li>Proven experience as an Exhaust Technician or Automotive Technician with expertise in exhaust system repair.</li>
<li>Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for exhaust system diagnostics.</li>
<li>Strong welding skills and experience in metal fabrication.</li>
<li>Knowledge of emission control systems and regulations.</li>
<li>Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.</li>
<li>Effective communication skills and customer service orientation.</li>
<li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li>
<li>Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy exhaust system components.</li>
<li>Valid driver's license and a clean driving record (if required).</li>
</ul>
Exhaust Technicians play a critical role in ensuring that vehicles are safe, environmentally compliant, and perform optimally. They must possess a strong understanding of exhaust systems, emissions regulations, and the ability to diagnose and repair issues efficiently while maintaining a focus on customer satisfaction and safety.
