The RN Charge Nurse is responsible for overseeing nursing services each shift and functions as a nursing supervisor. This position provides daily supervision of staff on duty during operational hours.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and tasks may be assigned.

<li> Assist with clinical and operational processes to improve patient health and minimize hospitalizations and missed treatments.</li>
\n
<li> Demonstrate effective use of supplies and staff labor hours.</li>
\n
<li> Complete and document monthly review of patient medication profiles. Administer medications as ordered by the physician.</li>
\n
<li> Assist physician during patient rounds and transcribe and implement physician orders timely.</li>
\n
<li> Assist with the implementation of anemia management and medication protocols as requested.</li>
\n
<li> Knowledge of and comply with federal, state, local laws and regulations, including health care professionals practice act requirements.</li>
\n
<li> Perform duties at all times within limitations established by and in accordance with company policy and procedures, applicable state and federal laws and regulations.</li>
\n
<li> May give direct patient care to the extent of performing efficient, safe dialysis, if allowed by state regulations.</li>
\n
<li> Responds to all emergencies in clinic.</li>
\n
<li> Communicate results of patient assessment, reassessment, and ongoing monitoring to the physician, team members, and others as appropriate to the individual needs of the patient.</li>
\n
<li> Maintain collaborative working relationship with Medical Director and physicians.</li>
\n
<li> Participate as a member of the Interdisciplinary team in all required patient assessment and care planning activities.</li>
\n
<li> Assist in orientation of new staff as a preceptor or in assigning a preceptor.</li>
\n
<li> Acts as resource person and participates in implementing and evaluating dialysis services and assures that policies and procedures are updated.</li>
\n
<li>Assists Administrator in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplinary actions of center staff</li>
\n</ul>

Qualifications/Requirements:
\n
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:
\n
<ul>\n
<li> Current RN license in applicable state. License must be maintained as current and in good standing. </li>
\n
<li> 12 months experience in providing nursing care, including 3 months of experience in providing nursing care to patients on maintenance dialysis. </li>
\n
<li> CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.</li>
\n
<li> Confirmation of ability to distinguish all primary colors.</li>
\n
<li> Demonstrated ability to function in a leadership position and to perform in new and emergent situations with sound judgment.</li>
\n
<li> Demonstrated working knowledge of the English language and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.</li>
\n
<li> Must have basic computer skills; proficiency in all USRC clinical applications required within 90 days of hire.</li>
\n
<li> Must meet any practice requirement(s) for the applicable state. (See addendum for RN Charge Nurse.)</li>
