The National Center for Women and Information Technology (NCWIT) welcomes applications for a research associate to lead, elevate, and operationalize racial equity and inclusion efforts across the NCWIT ecosystem, focusing on both internal programs and initiatives and externally with members and key partners. This position will provide strategic planning and collaboration in the areas of thought leadership, research, and resources related to racial equity and inclusion.

Who We Are

The National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) is a non-profit community of more than 1,600 higher education institutions, companies, nonprofits, and government organizations nationwide working to increase the meaningful and influential participation in computing of persons with marginalized gender identities at the intersections of race/ethnicity, class, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, and other historically marginalized identities — in the field of computing, particularly in terms of innovation and development. NCWIT equips change leaders with resources and tools for taking action in recruiting, retaining, and advancing these individuals from K–12 and higher education through tech industry and entrepreneurial careers. 

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Lead efforts to prioritize racial equity and inclusion across NCWIT programs, alliances and activities.
  • Work with organizational leadership to set priorities for the organization relative to racial equity and inclusion.
  • Manage the racial equity committee within NCWIT to identify and support racial-equity-related initiatives for the organization.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships with external groups focused on racial equity.
  • Participate in the Research and Resource Leadership Team to co-create NCWIT’s strategy and priorities for social science research and resources.
  • Conduct research relative to race and ethnicity, as funding is available.
  • Create and review NCWIT resources with a racial equity lens.
  • Advise and collaborate, as needed, on new NCWIT projects and programs.
  • Provide strategic collaboration and support to NCWIT Program and Alliance Directors, NCWIT Communications team, and other key NCWIT partners.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000 plus a generous benefits package provided through the University of Colorado.

What We Require

  • A Ph.D.

What We Would Like You to Have

  • Experience leading and building new racial equity programs and/or initiatives.
  • Established thought leadership in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB).
  • Experience with fundraising and/or proposal development.
  • Experience in DEIB within computing and STEM education or industry.
