Position Summary:
The Fiscal Officer - Auxiliary Enterprises provides accounting and financial management services for the RCC Association - which includes Student Activities, Athletics, International Studies, and the Campus Fun and Learn Child Development Center (CFL) - and the RCC Foundation. The position is responsible for budget development, financial reporting, audit preparation, tax compliance, investment oversight, and supervision of Auxiliary Services operations, including the bookstore, food services (Cafeteria, Hawk's Nest, Hudson Market on Main), and vending.
Key Responsibilities:
RCC Association
- Supervise the Association Bookkeeper.
- Supervise Auxiliary Services, including the bookstore, food services, and vending.
- Prepare and record adjusting journal entries.
- Develop the annual Association budget and assist in developing the CFL and Foundation budgets.
- Close out the fiscal year and prepare for the annual audit.
- Work with auditors on preparing and filing annual Form 990 and CHAR500 tax returns.
- Administer the Association Pension Plan, including preparing and filing Form 5500-SF annually and Form 8955-SSA as needed.
- Prepare and present quarterly financial statements to the Association and Foundation Boards, and issue monthly financial statements to the CFL Board.
- Prepare and submit the annual Voluntary Support of Education (VSE) Survey to the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the annual Reconciliation of Gifts Received to SUNY.
- Record, monitor, and report investments to the Foundation Board.
- Maintain the Foundation Net Asset Schedule.
RCC Foundation
- Prepare and record adjusting journal entries.
- Prepare and present quarterly financial statements to the Foundation Board.
- Assist in developing the Foundation budget.
- Close out the fiscal year and prepare for the annual audit.
- Work with auditors on preparing and filing annual Form 990 and CHAR500 tax returns.
- Record, monitor, and report investments to the Foundation Board.
- Maintain the Foundation Net Asset Schedule.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Five (5) plus years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience.
- Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements, managing external audits, and overseeing budget development.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and fund accounting.
- Supervisory experience.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration, and/or CPA designation.
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or auxiliary services accounting.
- Experience preparing IRS Form 990, NYS CHAR500, and Form 5500-SF, and administering pension plans.
- Familiarity with the VSE Survey and SUNY reporting requirements.
- Experience overseeing food service, retail bookstore, or vending operations.
Starting Salary: $90,000 - $95,000
