Overview

Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced Maintenance Technicians for projects located in and around Veterans Hospital DC. This is a first shift opportunity with a pay range of up to $37/hour based on experience and skill level. Job Scope:

  • Initial Equipment Inventory (One-Time Task):
    • Complete full inventory of pumps, heat exchangers, and exhaust systems.

    • Document equipment details (location, type, size, condition, supported area).

    • Submit organized records in Excel to the Program Office POC.

  • Preventative Maintenance:
    • Exhaust Fans (Annual): Clean housings, lubricate bearings, inspect belts, check amps, report deficiencies.

    • Pumps (Monthly): Verify operation, inspect for leaks, grease bearings, align shafts, perform annual vibration analysis, document deficiencies.

    • Heat Exchangers (Monthly): Inspect for leaks, fouling, and corrosion. Monitor pressure drops, test inlet/outlet temps, clean tubes, verify gauges/valves, record data.

  • Repairs (As Needed):
    • Diagnose equipment defects and failures.

    • Provide written repair/replacement estimates.

    • Perform emergency and scheduled repairs.

    • Supply tools, parts, lubricants, and documentation.

  • Reporting & Documentation:
    • Submit detailed service reports after each visit, including technician info, hours, equipment details, services performed, test results, and deficiencies.

Requirements:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HVAC/refrigeration maintenance (centrifugal pumps, fans, heat exchangers).

    • Healthcare or government facility experience strongly preferred.

    • Skilled in vibration analysis, electrical troubleshooting, leak detection, and pressure/temperature testing.

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in HVAC, mechanical engineering, or related field required.

    • EPA refrigerant certification (if applicable).

    • Knowledge of NAICS 561210 (Facilities Support Services) & PSC J041 (Refrigeration/AC Maintenance).

    • Must pass VA facility background check.

    • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

    • Ability to lift, climb, and work in confined spaces.

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel for reporting.

    • Strong attention to safety, detail, and documentation accuracy.
