Job Description
Overview:
Seeking an R&D Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity supporting medical device product development from concept through commercialization. The role includes hands-on prototyping, testing, and cross-functional collaboration to bring innovative products to market.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new devices and product improvements in compliance with design controls
- Lead or support cross-functional teams from concept to launch
- Build and evaluate prototypes to assess feasibility
- Translate user needs into validated product requirements and test methods
- Develop test fixtures and robust verification protocols
- Communicate progress and technical updates across departments
- Work with physicians, suppliers, and regulatory teams
- Author technical reports and support V&V and design transfer activities
- Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work experience (5+ years with degree or 8+ without)
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Experience with SolidWorks, lab equipment, and statistical methods
- Familiarity with design controls, medical device standards, and quality systems
- Hands-on knowledge of materials and processes such as molding, bonding, and catheter fabrication
