Job Summary


A Senior Electronics Engineering Technician plays a critical role in supporting engineers and maintaining complex electronic systems and equipment. This position typically requires advanced technical skills, significant experience, and the ability to work independently on challenging projects.


Key Responsibilities


The primary duties often include:

  • Product Development Support
    • Following FRS/PRD for end to end product validation
    • Develop and update test cases.
    • Building, testing, modifying, and assembling prototypes from schematics and design specifications.
    • Install prototype/pre-production devices on material handling equipment.
    • Travel to test sites to perform field test and validation when required
    • Prepare test reports, update JIRA, and support development team to fix bugs
    • Perform regression testing
  • Testing and Troubleshooting
    • Conducting diagnostic tests using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers to locate and resolve complex component-level failures.
    • Calibrate and validate electronic equipment to meet performance standards.
    • Repairing and refurbishing PCBs and sub-assemblies.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of testing procedures, results, component inventory, and repair history.
    • Write technical reports and contribute to the development of test procedures and maintenance manuals.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with key stakeholders throughout the testing process to ensure alignment and successful outcomes.
    • Partner with engineering, software development, technical support, and field technicians to gather insights, troubleshoot issues, and validate solutions.
    • Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement and product quality.

Success Measurements:


  • Prototype Delivery & Accuracy: Complete electronic prototypes within agreed timelines, achieving 95% compliance with design specifications and zero critical defects.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting Impact: Reduce equipment downtime by 20% through timely diagnosis and resolution of component-level issues (within 48 hours of identification).
  • Quality & Reliability: Maintain calibration and testing accuracy to meet or exceed industry standards, with less than 1% rework rate on validated assemblies.
  • Documentation & Reporting Excellence: Achieve 100% accuracy and timeliness in test reports, repair logs, and inventory records to support engineering and compliance requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement & Cost Efficiency: Identify and implement at least two process enhancements per quarter that reduce material waste or improve assembly efficiency by measurable percentages.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain zero safety incidents and full adherence to OSHA and internal safety standards during all lab operations.


Requirements


  • Associates degree in electronics technology or related field, bachelors degree preferred
  • 5+ Years of hands-on experience as electronics technician
  • Technical Skill: Proficiency in analog and digital circuits and microcontrollers. Must understand installation of product and testing as it relates to functionality and safety.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, block diagrams, and assembly drawings. Advanced soldering and rework skills
  • Tool Proficiency: Expert-level operation of test equipment (e.g., oscilloscope, signal generator, DMM). Familiarity with lab software (e.g., LabVIEW). JIRA project management experience.
  • Soft Skills: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Ability to work independently and manage project deadlines.


Compensation and Benefits


  • Salary: $85,000-$93,000
  • Performance Bonus: Eligible for a quarterly bonus of up to 10%, bringing the total compensation range to $93,500-$102,300
