About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ServiceNow Data Architect to lead the data strategy for an application built on the ServiceNow platform. You will be responsible for architecting the ServiceNow data model, ensuring data quality, and leading integration and migration efforts across multiple enterprise systems. A strong understanding of ServiceNows data architecture, CMDB, IntegrationHub, and App Engine capabilities is essential.

The output of this project team will include building efficient applications and workflows to reduce work duplication, simplify tools sprawl and generate better data to support the Department of Veteran Affairs.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, can work across various technologies, and is passionate about enabling rapid digital transformation through scalable, maintainable, and user-friendly solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain scalable, reusable, and platform-aligned ServiceNow data models, including custom tables, extended tables, and CMDB structures.
  • Define canonical data models that support interoperability between ServiceNow and external systems.
  • Lead data governance efforts using ServiceNow Dictionary, Data Policies, and Business Rules to enforce standards, definitions, and controls.
  • Define and monitor
data quality KPIs across ServiceNow and integrated platforms, implementing cleansing, deduplication, and validation rules.
  • Architect end-to-end data integration strategies using IntegrationHub, REST/SOAP APIs, Scripted Web Services, and MID Servers.
  • Collaborate with platform and dev teams to ensure seamless data flows between ServiceNow, Salesforce, Appian, and other enterprise systems.
  • Design and oversee data migration pipelines from legacy systems into ServiceNow using Import Sets, Transform Maps, and data load orchestration.
  • Ensure data privacy, security, and compliance (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2) by implementing access controls, encryption, masking, and audit logging.
  • Support CMDB design and population, including integration, reconciliation (IRE rules), and alignment with CSDM (Common Services Data Model).
  • Work closely with solution architects, business analysts, and platform developers to align data architecture with business and technical goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Masters preferred).
  • 8+ years in data architecture, integration, and migration roles, with 3+ years of hands-on experience on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Proven experience leading large-scale data migration and integration projects within enterprise environments.
  • Strong knowledge of ServiceNow data schema, table relationships, and platform architecture.
  • Expertise in data modeling (conceptual, logical, physical) within the context of ServiceNows extensible data model.
  • Proficiency in data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data stewardship on the ServiceNow platform.
  • Solid understanding of data pipeline design, including ETL/ELT and API-based data exchange.
  • Familiarity with CMDB architecture, population, and maintenance best practices.
  • Deep knowledge of data security practices within ServiceNow, including ACLs, role-based access, encryption, and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ServiceNow certifications: Certified System Administrator, Certified Application Developer, or ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist
  • Experience in agile or hybrid-agile delivery environments
  • Background in digital transformation or large-scale platform modernization efforts
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM) principles
