Shift Manager Desired Skill Requirements
1. Leadership & Crew Supervision
Leads by example to uphold Firehouse Subs’ commitment to heartfelt service, quality, and cleanliness.
Capable of motivating and guiding team members during busy shifts to maintain energy and accuracy.
Demonstrates respectful leadership, with a “team-first” approach rooted in accountability and trust.
2. Guest-Focused Service
Passionate about providing “service that saves lives” — fast, friendly, and community-driven.
Able to resolve guest concerns professionally while reinforcing brand loyalty.
Promotes a warm, welcoming environment where guests feel valued and appreciated.
3. Operational & Food Safety Knowledge
Understands and enforces Firehouse Subs’ portioning, food prep, and safety protocols.
Able to manage prep lists, product rotation, and temperature logs according to standards.
Ensures cleanliness of all stations and proper functioning of equipment during the shift.
4. Decision-Making & Problem-Solving
Quickly addresses staffing, food, or customer issues while maintaining a calm presence.
Makes informed decisions that support team efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Able to shift priorities as needed based on real-time store traffic or challenges.
5. Time & Self-Management
Punctual, organized, and capable of running shifts on time and on target.
Skilled at managing multiple duties — from training to line support to closing tasks.
Proactively checks stock levels, monitors prep needs, and keeps the shift moving smoothly.
6. Communication & Team Engagement
Communicates clearly and respectfully with team members and guests.
Shares information between shifts and with upper management for smooth handovers.
Builds a positive, inclusive workplace by promoting teamwork and high morale.
7. Responsibility & Integrity
Takes ownership of shift outcomes — including sales, labor, cleanliness, and guest experience.
Follows through on tasks like cash handling, drawer counts, and opening/closing duties.

8. Preferred Qualifications
6+ months of experience in foodservice or QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) leadership.
Comfortable with POS systems, scheduling tools, and inventory basics.
CPR/First Aid or food safety certification is a plus (especially given Firehouse’s safety theme).
