Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Safety Professional to develop, implement, and oversee workplace safety programs across construction projects. The ideal candidate will promote a strong safety culture, ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards, conduct inspections and training, and work closely with project teams to prevent incidents and maintain safe job sites.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Program Administration
- Develop, implement, and maintain company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local safety regulations.
- Monitor and enforce site-specific safety plans.
- Assist project managers and superintendents in implementing safety requirements.
Field Safety Oversight
- Conduct routine jobsite inspections and audits.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform safety observations and document findings.
- Verify that employees and subcontractors follow company safety standards.
Training and Employee Development
- Conduct new hire safety orientations.
- Deliver toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Coordinate required safety training and certifications.
- Provide coaching to field personnel on safe work practices.
Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and root cause analyses.
- Develop corrective and preventive action plans.
- Track and maintain safety metrics and records.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain OSHA logs and safety documentation.
- Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), and Safe Work Plans.
- Assist with audits conducted by customers, regulatory agencies, or insurance providers.
- Maintain records of inspections, training, certifications, and corrective actions.
Safety Culture Leadership
- Promote employee engagement in safety initiatives.
- Recognize positive safety performance.
- Partner with project leadership to continuously improve safety performance.
- Support company goals of zero incidents and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3-5 years of construction safety experience (or more depending on project size).
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Experience conducting jobsite inspections and safety training.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to travel to construction sites as needed.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
