Help Desk Technician
Kelly Tractor, a renowned provider of Caterpillar equipment and services, is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable individual to join our IT team as a Help Desk Technician. As a Help Desk Technician, you will be part of a dynamic team that provides IT support to our employee’s company wide.
Responsibilities
- Answering inbound calls, BossDesk Help Desk tickets, and email requests.
- Assist end users with peripherals such as monitors, scanners, keyboards, mice, etc.
- Upgrade hardware and desktop software and perform maintenance when scheduled or necessary.
- Support equipment used in conference rooms.
- Technical assistance to end users by performing question/problem diagnosis and guiding users through step-by-step solutions.
- Work within a structured, documented helpdesk system in a Microsoft Entra / active directory infrastructure.
- Assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of technology assets and technology related components for the purpose of cost control, efficient operation, and support of the technology infrastructure.
- Identifies, diagnoses, tracks and resolves hardware issues, PC connectivity issues, network speed and localized outages, new computer deployments, mobile devices, TVs, and any other user end point device.
- Support preparation and installation/readying of initial OS/App/Imaging loads of PCs
- Perform application installations for PCs and mobile devices for approved applications used in Enterprise.
- Provide one-on-one end-user problem resolution in-person or over the phone for approved hardware issues. Escalate to Tier 2 as required.
- Provide timely and accurate assistance to users and strives for first touch deployment and/or troubleshooting repair.
- Diagnoses and resolves end-user printer problems
- Effectively participates as part of the team, assisting where appropriate and requesting assistance when needed.
- Other duties and special projects as assigned by Information Services department management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Understanding of PCs, boot process, Windows OS management, Windows domain membership, drivers, application installs, printer setup and common networking requirements.
- Ability to set up and support a variety of common and proprietary PC peripheral devices, drivers, and applications.
- Ability to setup and verify setup of standard user facing applications such as browsers, email clients; and proprietary/industry specific applications as well.
- General knowledge of M365 (Office).
- Understanding of cloud technologies and Microsoft Azure AD / Entra ID.
- Ability to interpret user needs and escalate accordingly if required.
- Strong independent troubleshooting skills with a desire for continual learning.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively.
- Attention to detail and the ability to accurately document technical issues.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- Occasional travel to other branch locations may be required.
- Must be able to lift 25-30 lbs. unassisted.
Education and Experience
· High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical certifications or degree preferred.
· Associate or bachelor’s Degree preferred.
· 1-3 years’ experience in Information Technology related job is preferred, but willing to train a recent grad or someone looking to change careers and start in IT.
· Great with computers, tech savvy with a high aptitude for learning technology.
· Experience with Caterpillar equipment or dealership operations is a plus.
