We are seeking an experienced Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer for a permanent, full-time opportunity supporting advanced aerospace and defense programs in Palm Bay, Florida.

Salary Range: $88,500–$164,500 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

REQUIRED SECURITY CLEARANCE

Candidates must currently hold:

Active Top Secret clearance

OR

Active Top Secret/SCI clearance

Candidates whose Top Secret clearance was active within the last two years may also be considered.

Candidates must also be able to meet applicable favorable polygraph requirements.

Candidates without the required Top Secret-level clearance should not apply.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer will perform mechanical design, development, qualification, integration, and testing activities involving complex mechanical hardware, precision mechanisms, and electro-mechanical systems.

The selected engineer will work within a multidisciplinary program team and may take ownership of significant portions of mechanical systems as programs evolve.

This role requires strong hands-on engineering ability, mechanical hardware development experience, 3D CAD proficiency, and the ability to independently manage technically challenging assignments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities may include:

• Design and development of complex mechanical hardware

• Precision mechanism and electro-mechanical system development

• Creation and modification of 3D CAD models

• Development of engineering drawings and schematics

• Requirements definition and concept generation

• Material selection and engineering trade studies

• Design sensitivity and optimization studies

• Preliminary and final mechanical design

• Mechanical hardware assembly and integration

• Prototype development

• Development of mechanical subsystem test plans and procedures

• Testing and evaluation of components and assemblies

• Generation of Technical Data Package documentation

• Creation of part and assembly drawings

• Participation in engineering peer reviews

• Participation in PDRs and CDRs

• Product change reviews and engineering change implementation

• Collaboration with electrical, systems, manufacturing, test, and other engineering disciplines

• Supporting field testing and demonstrations

• Directing designers, technicians, and operators when required

• Presenting technical concepts and program information to internal leadership, customers, and stakeholders

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must meet one of the following:

Bachelor's Degree + minimum 6 years of relevant experience

OR

Graduate Degree + minimum 4 years of relevant experience

OR

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree

Additional requirements include:

• Mechanical engineering and hardware design experience

• Strong 3D modeling/CAD capabilities

• Experience designing and developing critical mechanical hardware

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision

• Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary engineering teams

• Willingness to work hands-on with hardware in a laboratory environment

• Strong engineering documentation skills

• Ability to travel occasionally

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Experience in any of the following is highly desirable:

• Precision mechanisms

• Mechatronic systems

• Electro-mechanical hardware

• Electronics and module packaging

• Thermal and structural loading considerations

• Size, weight, and power optimization

Base Salary: $88,500–$164,500 per year

WORK SCHEDULE

This position operates on a 9/80 schedule.

Employees work 80 hours over nine workdays during a two-week period, generally receiving every other Friday off.
