Summer Camp Lifeguard/Aquatics Instructor
Statement of General Purpose:
The Summer Camp Lifeguard/Aquatics Instructor is responsible for actively monitoring the safety and wellbeing of indoor swimming activities for children in our summer camp program
Examples of Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Actively supervise all summer camp swimming activities within our indoor pool, ensuring the health and safety of program participants and pool guests.
- Respond to potentially unsafe behaviors by immediate redirecting children and/or guests.
- Respond to emergency situations and issues with the appropriate course of action (CRP, first aid, etc.).
- Provide lessons, instructions, guidance, and direction in water safety, sports and exercise activities.
- Ensure full compliance with all water safety rules and regulations.
- Assists in the cleaning and maintenance of the pool area, pool, water, deck, staff office, locker room, and related areas and equipment; maintain a clean organized, and safe program space.
- Performs related work as required.
Core Competencies
- Extensive knowledge of water safety, CPR, first aid, etc.
- Knowledge of swimming pools and related equipment, including their maintenance and repair.
- Knowledge of swimming pool sports and exercise activities.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work productively with employees, clients, program participants, and others in a positive, pleasant, professional, and productive manner.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Lifeguard certification
- First Aid and CPR certification
- Prior lifeguard experience preferred.
- Ability to submit all required background checks, health screenings, and other regulatory documentation.
