About the Role
At Commure + Athelas, the Integration Team plays a crucial role in supporting the company’s core products—Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) and Scribe—by ensuring seamless data flow between our platform and over 40 Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). This team is responsible for fetching vital Encounter and Appointment data from multiple EMRs and, when necessary, writing data back to these systems. The team's work ensures the interoperability and smooth exchange of healthcare data via HL7, enabling healthcare providers to deliver more efficient and accurate care while streamlining administrative processes.
What You’ll Do

Lead the design and architecture of complex, scalable integration solutions between our platform and external healthcare systems, including EHRs, and clinical applications.

Lead troubleshooting and performance optimization for integrations, identifying root causes of issues and implementing robust solutions to enhance reliability and efficiency.

Drive technical strategy for integrations by evaluating and selecting appropriate tools, technologies, and platforms to meet current and future business needs.

Collaborate with product, engineering, ops to define and prioritize integration requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

Define and implement best practices for integration architecture, testing, and monitoring to ensure high availability and scalability.

Collaborate on cross-functional initiatives with teams in DevOps, QA, and data to ensure smooth deployment and monitoring of integrations in a cloud-native environment.

Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing technical leadership and fostering a collaborative environment to encourage skill development and innovation.

Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team’s engineering processes and tools by participating in code reviews, establishing coding standards, and refining development workflows.

Ensure adherence to healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7, FHIR) in all integration work, and collaborate with security teams to safeguard sensitive data.

Stay ahead of industry trends in healthcare integration and emerging technologies, recommending and implementing new approaches to improve the system’s integration capabilities.
What You Have

[Required] Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent extensive experience

8+ years of professional software development industry experience

Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, TypeScript, or similar) and frameworks

Experience with the entire modern backend development stack, including but not limited to Git, GCP / AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, relational and non-relational DBs, and monitoring/alerting tools

Proven track record of designing and implementing end-to-end solutions and making successful architectural decisions

Experience mentoring other engineers and leveling up an engineering organization

Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Compensation Range: $180K - $220K
