**Job Title: Paint Technician - Autobody Shop**

**Location:**Carstar Locations Central Eastern NC
**Department:** Autobody Shop
**Reports To:** Shop Manager

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Paint Technician to join our dynamic team at Carstar. The Paint Technician will be responsible for the preparation and painting of vehicle surfaces in accordance with industry standards to restore them to their original condition. This role requires a keen eye for detail, expertise in color matching, and proficiency with a wide range of painting equipment and techniques.

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Assess vehicles to understand the scope of repair and determine the most efficient approach to painting.
- Prepare the vehicle surfaces by removing dirt, grease, old paint, and rust.
- Mask and tape off vulnerable areas such as windows, trim, and wheels to protect against overspray.
- Operate and maintain spray guns and other specialized painting equipment.
- Mix paints to achieve the desired color and consistency using computerized paint-matching systems.
- Apply primers, base coats, and clear coats, ensuring even application and a smooth finish.
- Inspect finished work to ensure the highest quality and adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Keep detailed records of all work performed and materials used.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production and quality goals.

**Qualifications:**

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in auto body repair preferred.
- Proven experience as a Paint Technician or similar role in an autobody shop.
- Strong understanding of automotive paints, solvents, and chemicals.
- Proficient in the use of painting and polishing tools and machinery.
- Excellent color perception and ability to perform precise color matching.
- Attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

**Working Conditions:**

- Frequent exposure to paint, fumes, and other chemicals; appropriate safety gear and precautions are required.
- Physical activity including standing, bending, and lifting heavy equipment or materials on a regular basis.
- Work schedule may include very limited weekends, or overtime as needed to meet customer or company demands.
