Summary The Ash Group is hiring a Database Administrator II for our client (a major electricity and natural gas utility provider).
This is a Hybrid 12-month contract role based in Minneapolis, MN (3 days onsite, Tue–Thur), offering a pay rate of $57.00 per hour. This role supports the Operational Technology (OT) side of the business, including critical SCADA and nuclear systems, managing a diverse multi-platform environment including Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB.

- Compensation: $57.00 per hour.

- Schedule: Standard 40-hour week with an on-call rotation every 4 weeks (7-day coverage).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Provide comprehensive DBA support for SCADA and nuclear systems, ensuring the stability of critical utility infrastructure.
- Perform high-level database administration tasks including performance tuning, patching, database builds, and complex backup/recovery operations.
- Drive efficiency through automation by writing and maintaining scripts in KornShell (Unix/Linux) and PowerShell (Windows).
- Monitor proactive and reactive alerts via the DBA helpdesk and manage service requests through ServiceNow.
- Collaborate with a team of 5 DBAs and various application support teams on major capital projects, such as ADMS upgrades.
- Execute database lifecycle management across multiple platforms: Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 5–7 years of hands-on DBA experience is preferred. A background in utility or SCADA environments is a significant advantage.
- Multi-Platform Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in managing Oracle and SQL Server is required; experience with PostgreSQL and MariaDB is highly valued.
- Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of performance tuning, indexing, and backup/recovery strategies (e.g., RMAN, SQL Backups).
- Scripting: Strong ability to automate tasks using KornShell and PowerShell.
- Certifications: Microsoft or Oracle certifications (such as OCP) are preferred.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
