Alvarez Drywall & Acoustics is seeking an experienced Commercial Drywall Estimator/Project Manager to join our team in our San Angelo office.
\n
\n
This is a key position within our operation. We are looking for someone who knows our trade and can take ownership of commercial projects from estimating and bidding through project management and closeout.
\n
\n
The ideal candidate has direct experience with cold-formed metal framing, drywall systems, acoustical ceilings, and related commercial interior scopes. This is not an entry-level position, and previous experience in commercial drywall or a closely related specialty trade is important.
\n
What You'll Do:\n
Estimating & Preconstruction\n
- \n
- Review construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid documents
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for cold-formed metal framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, insulation, and related scopes
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Understand wall types, ceiling systems, rated assemblies, framing details, deflection requirements, and specialty conditions
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor pricing
- Identify scope gaps, conflicts, exclusions, risks, and value-engineering opportunities
- Prepare complete bid proposals, clarifications, alternates, and scope letters
- Communicate with general contractors during the bidding and preconstruction process
- Follow up on bids and assist with contract scope review after award

Project Management\n
Once a project is awarded, you will help carry it from turnover through completion.
\n
Responsibilities include:
\n
- \n
- Review specifications and project scope
- Prepare and manage submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
- Coordinate material procurement, releases, deliveries, and long-lead items
- Monitor project budgets, labor costs, material costs, and overall job performance
- Review construction schedules and identify impacts to our work
- Price change orders and additional work
- Track drawing revisions, ASIs, RFIs, field changes, and scope changes
- Attend project meetings and communicate directly with general contractors
- Visit job sites as needed
- Assist with monthly billing and project cost projections
- Identify potential problems early and work with the team to resolve them
- Manage projects through punch list and closeout
- Maintain strong relationships with our general contractors, suppliers, field teams, and project partners

Crew Management\n

- Coordinate with field supervisors to determine manpower needs for each project
- Plan crew sizes and manpower based on project schedules, scope, and production goals
- Monitor labor hours, productivity, and progress against estimated budgets
- Communicate upcoming manpower needs and schedule changes
- Work with field leadership to identify and address production or staffing issues
- Ensure crews have the information, materials, equipment, and access needed to perform their work efficiently
- Track project progress and adjust manpower plans as conditions change
- Maintain clear communication between the office, field supervisors, and project teams
- Help ensure labor is being utilized effectively, and projects remain on schedule and within budget

Who We're Looking For:\n
\n
We are looking for someone with real commercial construction experience in our trade.
\n
Preferred qualifications include:
\n
- \n
- 3+ years of experience in commercial drywall, cold-formed metal framing, acoustical ceilings, or specialty interiors
- Estimating and/or project management experience with a commercial specialty contractor
- Strong knowledge of metal framing and gypsum assemblies
- Working knowledge of acoustical ceiling systems
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural drawings and specifications
- Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, billing, and project closeout
- Experience with estimating and construction management software
- Experience in scheduling crews and overseeing production
- Strong computer and Excel skills
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple bids and active projects at the same time

Experience in our trade matters to us. A construction management degree can be valuable, but it is not a substitute for understanding how commercial framing, drywall, and acoustical ceiling projects are estimated and built.
