Hire Talent is partnering with a leading, privately held pipeline and facilities construction contractor headquartered in Houston. With more than 25 years delivering complex $10M–$100M+ infrastructure projects across North America, our client is known for financial stability, safety, quality, and a collaborative, people‑focused culture. This role owns the integrity of project cost data from field time sheets through financial reporting. It is a hands‑on, high‑visibility position working daily with field teams, project managers, estimating, and executive leadership.

Position Outline:

\n

    \n
  • Set up jobs, budgets, phases, and cost codes in Spectrum and align structures with contract requirements.
  • \n

  • Reconcile labor, equipment, AP, and committed cost daily; resolve miscoding and maintain audit‑ready accuracy.
  • \n

  • Prepare and support progress billings across T&M, unit price, SOV, lump sum, and cost‑plus structures.
  • \n

  • Manage change orders, committed cost, contract value updates, and maintain accurate logs.
  • \n

  • Produce weekly and monthly job cost reports, variance analysis, and forecast‑at‑completion updates.
  • \n

  • Maintain work‑in‑process schedules, earned revenue, and over/under billing calculations.
  • \n

  • Provide historical cost data to estimating and perform bid‑to‑actual analysis.
  • \n

  • Strengthen job cost processes, documentation, and internal controls; partner closely with field operations.
  • \n

Requirements and preferences:

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor's in Accounting, Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
  • \n

  • Five or more years in job cost, project accounting, project controls, or cost engineering within pipeline, heavy civil, industrial, or EPC environments.
  • \n

  • Experience owning the full job cost cycle from setup through closeout.
  • \n

  • Knowledge of percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition and WIP reporting.
  • \n

  • Hands‑on ERP experience; Spectrum by Viewpoint preferred.
  • \n

  • Experience with union projects, earned value concepts, SOP development and multi-structure billing desired.
  • \n

  • Advanced Excel skills and strong reconciliation capability.
  • \n

  • Comfortable working directly with field personnel and communicating cost issues clearly.
  • \n
