Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Sales Associate to work directly with customers to identify jewelry preferences, build lasting relationships, answer questions, and assist with in-store sales while providing an outstanding customer experience. This role requires someone who performs daily responsibilities with excellence and understands proper retail procedures in a luxury jewelry environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales:
- Work directly with clients to identify jewelry preferences, answer questions, and assist with in-store counter sales while providing an exceptional customer experience
- Assist the sales team with in-store counter sales and service
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of store inventory and current jewelry trends
- Process sales transactions accurately in our POS system
- Execute all related sales procedures with precision
Relationship Building:
- Maintain detailed client and prospective client information in our database, including preferences, wish list items, and upcoming special events
- Send timely thank you notes and follow-up communications consistently to develop lasting relationships
- Demonstrate proficiency with our CRM system to track and nurture customer relationships
- Meet CRM usage and clientele quota requirements
Store Operations:
- Support daily store operations including opening and closing procedures
- Answer phones professionally and handle customer inquiries
- Follow all security protocols and procedures
- Conduct inventory case counts accurately
- Perform store maintenance and housekeeping duties
- Execute warm sales transfers to Jewelry Designer, Customer Service, or Repairs Manager as appropriate
Communication & Teamwork:
- Maintain open and timely communication with team members, management, clients, and jewelers regarding project status, sales, and design questions
- Demonstrate strong work ethic with eagerness to learn and pursue new sales opportunities
- Focus on add-on services and upselling opportunities
Key Performance Indicators
Success in this role will be measured by:
- Achievement of individual sales goals
- Closing ratio performance
- Management of returns and exchanges
- Team selling collaboration
- Effective use of CRM system and meeting clientele quotas
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum of one year retail sales and customer service experience
- Accredited Jewelry Professional certification or other GIA education preferred to develop working knowledge of current jewelry trends, precious stones, and metals
Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent oral communication and listening skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Competent computer skills and ability to learn new software systems
- Understanding of social media platforms and client relations
- Networking abilities and relationship-building skills
- Professional appearance and demeanor suitable for luxury retail environment
