Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Financial Controller to lead our financial operations with precision and strategic insight. In this vital role, you will oversee all accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive financial reporting excellence. Your expertise will help us maintain transparency, optimize financial health, and support our mission of community service through robust financial management.
Responsibilities
· Direct Accounting staff and Business Analyst position
· Direct and participate in the development of accounting and internal control policies and systems
· Coordinate and control the facility's cash and investment management activities
· Provide advice and assistance to department heads and managers in analyzing and interpreting financial data and reports and in presenting that information to their departments
· Define and communicate new/revised position responsibilities and/or reporting relationships and determines necessary staffing changes
· Ensure accurate information is provided on a timely basis and assists, as needed, in facilitating the efficient conduct of external audits, examinations and related financial projects
· Ensure a monthly time schedule is established for the processing of computer reports necessary for the preparation of monthly financial statements; implements corrective action as necessary to meet established deadlines
· Consistently develop a detailed plan of action prior to implementation of a new procedure
· Regularly examine alternative methods of providing required accounting services in order to reduce departmental operating costs
· Promote good staffing practices by maximizing the utilization of human resources; forecast and anticipate the personnel needs of the department with regard to fluctuations in the projected workload; holds staffing at a functional minimum
· Consistently demonstrate the ability to establish appropriate departmental priorities
· Consistently complete all assignments in a timely manner, thorough and appropriately detailed
· Demonstrate effectiveness in pulling together all the necessary information needed to compare revenue and expenses and determine the facility's actual financial position
· Effectively maintain all required records for the department; demonstrates good organization skills
· Monitor the implementation of checks and balances which continually evaluate accounting practices, reporting procedures and record keeping
· Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly
· Assist auditors with various tasks during financial audit
· Resolve personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required
· Maintain and ensure client confidentiality at all time
· Accept other duties as assigned
· Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean
· Maintain regulatory requirements
· Wear identification while on duty
· Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner
· Actively participate in performance improvement activities
· Comply with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
· Communicate the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department
Regulatory Requirements
· Valid Driver’s License required
· Accounting Degree required
· Highly developed organizational skills
· Recent experience in the medical or behavioral health field
· Personal cell phone will be used for two factor authentication
Experience
- Proven experience managing accounting teams within non-profit or governmental organizations.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, SOX compliance, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial software systems
- Extensive background in financial analysis, cost accounting analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, and account reconciliation.
- Skilled in Excel data analysis for forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling purposes.
- Experience with technical accounting issues such as double entry bookkeeping, account analysis, payroll processing, and general ledger management.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to write clear financial reports and present complex concepts effectively.

Education:
- Bachelor's (Required)
Experience:
- Accounting: 5 years (Required)
- Behavioral health: 5 years (Preferred)
- Medical Billing: 5 years (Preferred)
- Non-profit accounting: 5 years (Preferred)
License/Certification:
