Job Title: Mainframe z/OS DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) – Level 3
Location: Albany, NY (Onsite for the first week, then remote)
Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe DB2 Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage DB2 environments on the z/OS platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in database administration, performance tuning, and mainframe utilities, along with the ability to support mission-critical production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform all aspects of DB2 database administration on z/OS platforms.
• Manage database performance, tuning, and capacity planning.
• Execute and manage DB2 utilities (Reorg, Runstats, Copy, Load, Unload, Modify, Check, Recover, Rebuild).
• Develop, modify, and maintain JCL for database operations.
• Execute DB2 commands (Start, Stop, Display, Cancel, etc.).
• Design and implement database changes, including DDL execution and schema modifications.
• Review logical database designs and convert them into efficient physical designs.
• Manage database backup and recovery processes.
• Troubleshoot incidents, resolve problems, and document solutions.
• Implement database security using RACF (grants, revokes, roles, privileges).
• Follow established processes for change, incident, problem, availability, and capacity management.
• Provide rotational 24x7 on-call support for production environments.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience with DB2 on z/OS (including version 11/12 experience)
• Minimum 5 years of experience with z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 utilities
• Strong experience executing DDL and managing database structures
• Proven experience in performance tuning and capacity management
• Hands-on experience with DB2 backup and recovery processes
• Experience in database monitoring, maintenance, and administration
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Fluent in English
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience with DB2 z/OS (including v11/v12)
• 7+ years of experience with z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, and DB2 utilities
• Advanced experience in DDL execution and database design
• Extensive experience in performance and capacity management
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
