About the role:

The Maintenance Team Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for coordinating and supporting daily maintenance operations to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment and facility systems. This position serves as a key communication link between maintenance technicians and management, providing guidance, training, and direction while actively participating in the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of machinery and equipment. The Maintenance Team Lead helps minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, prioritize work assignments, and ensure maintenance activities are completed effectively and safely. This role reinforces accountability, promotes compliance with safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory standards, and supports the development of team members through coaching, mentoring, and leading by example. By fostering a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment, the Maintenance Team Lead helps drive continuous improvement and supports the achievement of operational and production goals.


You’ll get to:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

a. Coordinate, assign, and prioritize daily maintenance activities while providing hands-on support for the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of production and facility equipment.
b. Lead maintenance technicians in responding to equipment breakdowns, emergency repairs, and preventive maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
c. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system issues and support effective troubleshooting and repair efforts.
d. Interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and work orders to ensure maintenance activities are completed safely and efficiently.
e. Promote and enforce all safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices while identifying and addressing potential hazards.
f. Provide leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring to maintenance team members to support skill development and performance improvement.
g. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and shift communications while ensuring documentation is completed in a timely manner.
h. Coordinate maintenance priorities with production, quality, sanitation, and other departments to support operational goals.
i. Monitor work quality and ensure maintenance standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements are consistently followed.
j. Communicate equipment status, repair progress, and operational concerns to maintenance leadership and plant management.
k. Maintain organized work areas, tools, and equipment while promoting good housekeeping practices.
l. Support continuous improvement efforts focused on equipment reliability, efficiency, and overall plant performance.


Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

m. Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
n. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify root causes of recurring issues and implement corrective actions.
o. Support maintenance inventory control, spare parts management, and documentation activities.
p. Participate in safety meetings, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
q. Assist with developing maintenance procedures, training materials, and standard work instructions.
r. Help foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, communication, and operational excellence.

You'll play a critical role in improving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, supporting production success, and developing team members. You'll work closely with operations, quality, and leadership teams while helping drive continuous improvement throughout the facility.


Must-haves:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of a technical training program, trade school, or craft apprenticeship preferred
• 3-5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience required
• Previous leadership, team lead, or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance, including hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair production and facility equipment
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and prioritize multiple tasks
• Willingness to work overtime as needed
• Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance documentation systems

• Strong electro-mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• PLC experience is a plus
• Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop maintenance team members
• Ability to effectively prioritize maintenance activities and respond to changing operational needs
