Leadpoint Business Services needs several experienced Maintenance Technician to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conveyor belts, large sorting machinery, and heavy equipment (front end loaders, skid steers, sit down forklifts, etc.) as well as maintain the facility itself at a production site in Charlotte, NC.


EARN $20.00 - $25.00/HR

1st SHIFT AVAILABLE!

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6AM - 4:30PM, Occasional Saturdays based on business needs.

Position summary: The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for the inspection, repair, and preventative maintenance of machinery, equipment, and systems within the recycling facility. This role ensures maximum, uptime, efficiency, and safety of the plant operations by performing both routine and emergency maintenance on shredders, balers, conveyors, sortation systems, and support equipment.

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and inspections on plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Diagnose and promptly repair mechanical and hydraulic issues in balers, shredders, conveyors, forklifts, trailers, and other systems.
  • Assist senior technicians with rolling stock equipment maintenance and support installation and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with OSHA and corporate standards, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Collaborate with plant operators to identify recurring issues and recommend improvements. Support housekeeping, environmental compliance, and inventory management.
  • A flexible schedule is required, including weekends and up to 25% travel to support multiple facilities.

Skills & Abilities:

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in industrial, mechanical, or electrical maintenance; recycling, manufacturing, or heavy equipment background preferred.

Technical Proficiency

  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, fabrication, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Skilled in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plant machinery and rolling stock equipment.
  • Experience with installation, testing, and commissioning of new machinery.
  • Proficient in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.

Safety & Compliance

  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and corporate safety standards.
  • Familiarity with lockout/tagout procedures and environmental compliance practices.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Problem Solving & Collaboration

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technicians, operators, and supervisors.
  • Capable of identifying recurring equipment issues and recommending improvements.

Organizational Skills

  • Ability to maintain an organized maintenance shop with proper inventory of spare parts and tools.
  • Accurate documentation of maintenance activities and equipment performance.

Physical & Scheduling Requirements

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying conditions (heat, dust, noise).
  • Flexible work schedule, including weekends, to support facility operations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% to support multiple facilities as needed.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Normal setting for this job is material recycle facilities, repair/maintenance facility, outdoors or other facilities.
