Job Description
Seeking an experienced Quality Manager to lead the quality function at a high-volume automotive manufacturing facility. This role will oversee quality systems, customer relationships, process improvement, compliance, and a team of quality professionals while working closely with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Quality department, including supervisors and quality technicians.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term quality strategies and objectives.
- Serve as the primary quality contact for customers, managing complaints, rejections, and corrective actions.
- Ensure products and processes meet customer and company specifications.
- Lead APQP, PPAP, FMEA/PFMEA, Control Plans, capability studies, and validation activities.
- Utilize root-cause and problem-solving methods including 5-Why, 8D, and similar methodologies.
- Analyze quality and statistical data to identify trends and improve processes.
- Partner cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, and Maintenance to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Manage supplier quality, audits, customer surveys, and supplier development initiatives.
- Establish quality procedures, standards, training programs, and departmental performance measures.
- Maintain compliance with applicable quality and safety requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and quality-related recruiting activities.
- Travel as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering or another technical field.
- 6+ years of automotive quality experience.
- 3+ years of quality leadership/supervisory experience.
- Automotive manufacturing experience required; high-volume/mass production preferred.
- Strong knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA/FMEA, GD&T, blueprint reading, DOE, Control Plans, and TS/IATF 16949.
- Experience with SPC, Gage R&R, capability studies, and statistical analysis.
- Strong customer-facing and relationship-management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in both hands-on and strategic capacities.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work effectively across Production, Engineering, and Maintenance.
