Position: Floor Manager Bar Focus

KYU is looking for a Floor Manager with strong bar knowledge to join our leadership team. This role is ideal for an experienced bartender or lead bartender ready to step into management. While the position carries the full responsibilities of a floor manager — running shifts, supporting all FOH staff, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences there will also be an emphasis on supporting, training, and mentoring the bar team.

This is not a mixologist or beverage program role. You won’t be expected to craft cocktails or create menus. Instead, you’ll be responsible for applying your bar experience to properly train and guide the bar team, while also managing the floor as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise front-of-house operations, leading by example while coaching and developing the team.

  • Oversee and support the bar team: review beverage counts, place beverage orders, and ensure coverage on closing shifts.

  • Train and mentor bar staff, ensuring consistency and adherence to KYU standards.

  • Support the General Manager in managing labor costs and optimizing staffing efficiency.

  • Ensure consistent and exceptional service for all guests in line with KYU’s service standards.

  • Assist in interviewing, hiring, evaluating, and disciplining FOH staff as needed.

  • Review and approve/disapprove time-off requests; assist in scheduling.

  • Conduct weekly manager meetings with FOH leads and attend BOH pre-shifts.

  • Keep shift logs, service checklists, allergen guides, and training materials updated.

  • Submit End of Day (EOD) reports after each shift.

  • Report maintenance and equipment repair needs promptly.

  • Maintain accurate employee files, including write-ups, reviews, and availability.

  • Manage weekly FOH and bar supply inventories.

  • Uphold and promote KYU’s culture and core values in all aspects of the business.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of experience in a FOH leadership role (Restaurant Manager, Assistant Manager, or Lead Bartender).

  • Strong background in bar operations, with the ability to train and mentor bar staff.

  • Experience in fine dining and high-volume environments.

  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on teamwork and coaching.

  • Passion for service, hospitality, and continuous growth.

  • Effective and clear communication skills.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and restaurant software systems.
