Job Title: Maintenance Technician
Job Description
This Maintenance Technician role supports a high-volume production environment by maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing packing machines, conveyors, and related mechanical and electrical systems. You will review work orders at the start of each shift, perform preventative maintenance, and ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably across multiple facilities.
Responsibilities
- Review and prioritize maintenance work orders at the beginning of each shift to plan and organize daily tasks.
- Perform preventative maintenance on baking ovens, packing machines, conveyors, and other production equipment to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
- Inspect and test machinery components, including bearings, gears, shafts, and conveyor systems, to identify wear, damage, or potential failures.
- Diagnose mechanical issues on production equipment and implement effective repairs to restore safe and efficient operation.
- Perform basic electrical maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting and repairing electrical components within machinery as needed.
- Use welding and fabrication skills to repair, modify, or reinforce equipment parts, frames, and supports as required.
- Support maintenance needs at both the new bakery near the cold storage facility and the original bakery, adapting to different equipment and layouts.
- Document maintenance activities accurately, including completed work, parts used, and any follow-up actions required.
- Collaborate closely with production staff to understand equipment issues, schedule repairs, and minimize disruption to operations.
- Follow all food safety, quality, and safety procedures in alignment with the facility’s SQF system and internal policies.
Essential Skills
- At least 1 year of experience setting up, repairing, and troubleshooting machinery within a manufacturing or production setting.
- At least 1 year of mechanical maintenance experience within a manufacturing or production environment.
- A minimum of 6 months of electrical experience related to production or industrial equipment.
- A minimum of 6 months of welding and fabrication experience for equipment repair and modification.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical components such as bearings, gears, shafts, conveyors, and related systems.
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on ovens, packing machines, and similar production equipment.
- Basic electrical troubleshooting skills for production machinery.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow work orders and maintenance instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to equipment reliability and safety.
- Capability to work 12-hour shifts on either day or night schedules as assigned.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with baking ovens, packing machines, and conveyor-heavy production lines.
- Previous experience in a food production or food processing environment.
- Familiarity with SQF or similar food safety and quality management systems.
- Comfort working across multiple facilities and adapting to different equipment setups.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance colleagues.
- Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and minimizing downtime.

Work Environment
This role is based in a bakery production environment that operates under an SQF system to ensure strict food safety and quality standards. You will work around baking ovens, packing machines, conveyors, and other industrial equipment in both an original bakery and a newer facility near a cold storage site. The operation runs 12-hour shifts, with day shifts from 4:45 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and night shifts from 4:45 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., typically on either a Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday schedule. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $33.00/hr.
