Job Description

Basil Clinical | Full-Time | On-Site / Hybrid

About Basil Clinical

Basil Clinical is a physician-led research organization that accelerates clinical trials through

operational excellence, high-volume inclusive recruitment, and data-driven precision. We

partner with leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies to conduct trials in Neurology,

Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, and Oncology. By focusing on diverse and underrepresented

populations, we maintain the highest standards of Good Clinical Practice and deliver reliable,

meaningful outcomes.

The Role

We’re looking for a seasoned, hands-on technologist to take full ownership of our data and

systems infrastructure. This is a high-impact role where you’ll be doing the work directly —

architecting, building, maintaining, and improving the systems that power our clinical operations.

You’ll be someone who can operate independently, take a project from concept to completion,

and keep multiple initiatives moving at once in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.

You’re equally comfortable making strong technical decisions and communicating clearly with

non-technical stakeholders. Just as important, you’re someone who is genuinely curious and

willing to learn the specific tools, platforms, and workflows we use — diving in, getting up to

speed quickly, and continuously improving how things work.

Critically, we’re not looking for someone who needs a requirements doc handed to them. In a

larger organization, analysts write the specs and developers build them — we’re too nimble for

that split. You’ll go directly to the source: sitting with clinical teams, operations, and sponsors to

understand what they actually need, and then building it yourself. That ability to bridge analysis

and development in one person is central to this role.

What You’ll Do

Systems & Architecture

• Design, build, and scale robust systems and data infrastructure that support clinical

operations and organizational growth

• Define and enforce data architecture standards, ensuring consistency, reliability, and

integrity across all platforms

• Identify gaps in current systems and proactively architect scalable, maintainable

solutions

• Design and manage third-party API integrations connecting internal platforms with

external tools and services, ensuring seamless data flow across the organization

• Manage sandbox environments, deployments, and release cycles to support safe,

structured development practices

Technical Development

• Write clean, production-quality code and personally execute development work across

projects

• Build and manage automations and workflow tools to streamline operations and reduce

manual effort

• Create and maintain Salesforce reports and dashboards that give leadership clear

visibility into performance, outcomes, and areas for improvement

• Navigate and manage Salesforce system configuration, including permissions, profiles,

roles, and org-wide settings

• Perform hands-on object and data management in Salesforce: creating and maintaining

custom objects, fields, relationships, page layouts, and record types as needed

• Drive requirements gathering directly with end users and stakeholders, then translate

those needs into clean, maintainable technical solutions

• Establish and maintain clear documentation of systems, configurations, data models,

and workflows

• Implement and uphold best practices for data security, access controls, and compliance

Ownership & Project Management

• Own the full project lifecycle — scope, plan, prioritize, execute, and deliver across

multiple concurrent initiatives

• Navigate competing priorities and shifting demands with composure and clear decision-

making

• Hold yourself accountable to timelines and quality standards, and bring the same rigor to

everything you ship

• Bring structure, best practices, and a forward-thinking approach that sets a strong

foundation as the organization grows

Stakeholder Communication

• Act as the primary technical point of contact for leadership, operations, clinical, and

external partners

• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable language for non-technical

stakeholders

• Proactively communicate project status, risks, and trade-offs at the right level of detail for

each audience

• Partner cross-functionally to gather requirements and ensure technology decisions align

with organizational goals

What We’re Looking For

Required

We prioritize soft skills over specific technical expertise. Platforms and tools can be learned —

but ownership, drive, and the instinct to operate independently cannot. We’re looking for those

qualities first.

• Self-sufficient and ownership-oriented — you identify problems, propose solutions, and

follow through without being asked

• A natural leader with demonstrated ability to influence, guide, and align stakeholders

across different functions and levels

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt your message for technical and

non-technical audiences alike

• Exceptional ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-moving,

changing environment

• Able to gather your own requirements — you don’t need a spec handed to you. You’ll go

directly to stakeholders, understand what they need, and translate it into a solution

yourself

• 5+ years of experience in technical roles spanning software development, systems

architecture, and/or data engineering

• Proven track record of building and managing complex systems end-to-end, including

APIs, integrations, automations, and data infrastructure

• Strong foundation in data architecture, data modeling, and maintaining data integrity

across platforms and systems

• Hands-on developer background — comfortable writing and reviewing code, debugging,

working across developer and sandbox environments, and making pragmatic technical

decisions

• Actively leverages AI tools and modern development workflows to improve efficiency,

reduce manual effort, and deliver higher-quality output

• Experience working in structured developer environments including version control,

sandbox/staging environments, and deployment pipelines

Nice to Have

• Experience in clinical research, healthcare, or life sciences

• Experience with CRM platforms — specifically Salesforce, including configuration,

custom development, and administration

• Familiarity with RingCentral, Twilio, or telephony/CTI integrations in Salesforce

• Familiarity with Zapier and Make.com

What We Offer

• Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits

• Direct access to leadership and a real seat at the table in shaping our technology

strategy

• Meaningful work at a mission-driven organization advancing clinical research for

underrepresented communities
