Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide high-quality nursing care and direct patient support within the scope of practice established by the Ohio Board of Nursing and Ohio Revised Code. The LPN will work under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist, or chiropractor, as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

- Administer nursing care within the LPN scope of practice and under appropriate clinical direction.
- Administer prescribed medications, including oral, rectal, topical, intramuscular, and subcutaneous medications, as permitted by Ohio law and facility policy.
- Administer oxygen and provide other prescribed nursing treatments.
- Apply sterile dressings, irrigate wounds, insert catheters, suction patients, and perform other skilled nursing procedures.
- Collect specimens and assist physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, treatments, and laboratory procedures.
- Provide dialysis treatments and operate and monitor hemodialysis equipment when appropriately trained and certified.
- Respond appropriately to medical emergencies, including providing first aid and performing CPR.
- Monitor patients during treatments and observe for changes in condition, medication reactions, treatment responses, behavior, and overall progress.
- Accurately document patient conditions, nursing interventions, medications, treatments, and progress in accordance with facility requirements.
- Maintain medication accountability records, medication counts, medication stock, and medical equipment and supply inventories.
- Administer medications and provide patients with appropriate medication-related instructions.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs and other required clinical information.
- Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, feeding, mobility, positioning, and activities of daily living.
- Administer prescribed topical ointments and solutions and eye, ear, and nose drops.
- Respond to patient alarms and provide appropriate assistance based on patient needs.
- Schedule medical appointments, escort patients to appointments, and assist with recreational or therapeutic activities as assigned.
- Provide one-to-one or group activities consistent with the patient's treatment or intervention plan.
- Maintain accurate patient records, medication reports, unusual incident reports, treatment documentation, and other required records.
- Follow HIPAA requirements and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Provide work direction, orientation, and training to lower-level direct-care staff regarding general patient care activities.
- Participate in staff conferences, interdisciplinary team meetings, nursing meetings, committees, in-service training, and other meetings as assigned.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional patient-care environment.
- Follow agency, institutional, hospital, or clinic policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
\n

- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to applicable provisions of Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4723.
- Completion of an approved course in medication administration.
- Current CPR certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification as required.
- Knowledge of practical nursing procedures, pharmacology, patient care, first aid, CPR, HIPAA regulations, and healthcare practices and procedures.
- Ability to safely operate and use medical equipment, including blood pressure equipment, oxygen equipment, sterilizers, and other equipment applicable to the assigned work environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively with patients, families, nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
