Job Description

Position Overview
We’re looking for a detail-oriented Estimator or field technician to support preconstruction efforts for K–12 and higher education projects involving window replacement, curtain wall systems, storefront glazing, and aluminum door packages. This role is ideal for someone with glazing experience—especially a former field glazier—who understands how systems go together and can translate drawings and specs into accurate, competitive bids.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for window, curtain wall, storefront, and door replacement projects
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents for scope, risk, and constructability
  • Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing (glass, aluminum systems, hardware, etc.)
  • Develop detailed proposals, scopes of work, and clarifications
  • Identify value engineering opportunities without compromising performance or code compliance
  • Coordinate with project managers, field teams, and suppliers to validate pricing assumptions
  • Track bid results, maintain cost databases, and support continuous improvement of estimating processes
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional site visits to verify existing conditions

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of estimating experience in glazing, façade systems, or commercial construction (or strong field glazing background with interest in estimating)
  • Familiarity with storefront, curtain wall, window systems, and aluminum doors/hardware
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural/structural drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency with takeoff and estimating tools (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, OST) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Preferred

  • Experience with school or public-sector projects
  • Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and energy performance standards
  • Vendor relationships within the glazing/aluminum systems market

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience
  • Health benefits, retirement plan, and paid time off
  • Opportunity to grow within preconstruction and project management
  • Supportive team environment that values field experience and practical knowledge

Location & Schedule

  • [Insert location or “Office-based / Hybrid / Remote”]
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday

How to Apply
Submit your résumé and a brief summary of relevant projects or experience. Candidates with hands-on glazing or installation backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
