Job Description

This Senior Wastewater Engineer role offers the opportunity to serve as a technical expert on water and sewer line projects within a growing wastewater engineering team in Virginia. You will lead and support linear water and sewer infrastructure projects, contribute to system modeling and design, and collaborate closely with a tight-knit, team-oriented group that values communication, flexibility, and professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert on linear water and sewer line projects, providing guidance and oversight throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and support the design of water and wastewater infrastructure using Civil 3D and other engineering tools.
  • Develop and review water system and pressure system models to support planning, design, and optimization of water and sewer networks.
  • Collaborate with project teams to prepare engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports for water and sewer projects.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and, when applicable, local government or municipal representatives to ensure project requirements and standards are met.
  • Apply engineering judgment and experience to solve complex technical challenges related to water and wastewater systems.
  • Support quality control and quality assurance processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Mentor and support less experienced engineers and team members, contributing to a culture of learning and professional development.
  • Participate in occasional site visits in Virginia and North Carolina to observe field conditions, support construction activities, and verify design intent.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, communicative, and team-focused work environment that emphasizes career growth and development.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional engineering experience.
  • Strong experience working on linear water and sewer line projects.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D for water and wastewater infrastructure design.
  • Experience with water system and pressure system models.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • Experience working with local governments or municipalities is a plus.

Work Environment

This role is primarily office-based with occasional site visits in Virginia and North Carolina to support project needs. The position offers hybrid flexibility depending on the candidate’s circumstances and alignment with team requirements. Preferred office location is Richmond, Virginia, with openness to other locations including Manassas, Virginia Beach, Blacksburg, Virginia, and a location in North Carolina. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Manassas, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.

Medical, dental, vision, and disability insurance. 401k package that includes both traditional and Roth IRA options and Company match. Paid time off contingent upon full time or part time status and level of seniority (ranging from 15 to 25 days per year).
