Job Title: Batch Operator

Job Description

The Batch Operator blends powdered materials in a high-volume mixing department, operates production machinery, and ensures batches are produced accurately and safely according to detailed instructions. This role involves frequent equipment setups and changeovers, basic troubleshooting, and working with pumps, mixers, and packaging equipment in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Blend powders in the mixing department according to specific batch instructions and formulas.
  • Measure and add ingredients accurately to each batch, following established procedures and documentation.
  • Operate production machinery, including pumps, mixers, and packaging equipment, to meet daily production goals.
  • Perform equipment setups and changeovers efficiently to support different products and batch runs.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and coordinate with maintenance or leadership when needed.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the mixing and packaging process and perform regular quality checks.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety and quality procedures at all times.
  • Handle materials and finished product, including lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in the mixing and packaging zones.
  • Support inventory-related tasks such as moving materials, staging product, and maintaining accurate counts.
  • Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed, if qualified.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding batch status, issues, and improvements.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on machine operation experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with mixing or blending processes in an industrial or batch production setting.
  • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) experience and adherence to quality standards.
  • Prior experience as a blender operator or batch operator, or in a closely related role.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
  • Capability to stand for 10 or more hours per day in a production setting.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for production and packaging equipment.
  • Experience performing quality checks and following quality assurance procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Forklift experience and comfort operating material handling equipment.
  • Inventory experience, including handling materials and tracking product movement.
  • Experience in packaging operations within a manufacturing or production facility.
  • Familiarity with changeovers and setups on production machinery.
  • Understanding of compounding processes or similar batch-based manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail when following batch instructions and measuring ingredients.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces a bleach-based outdoor cleaning agent, so there is a noticeable but controlled odor in the production area. The facility is non-climate-controlled, and you will work on your feet for extended periods, often handling materials and equipment. Personal protective equipment is required, including steel-toe footwear, eye protection, and hearing protection. The environment is described as extremely clean and well maintained. Standard shifts run Monday through Thursday, with overtime opportunities on Friday. Available schedules include a first shift from 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM and a second shift from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manchester, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
